How To Paint Clouds
To begin painting clouds, you need to get an idea of how clouds appear. Go outside, observe the clouds, and sketch an outline of what you see. You also have the option of looking at pictures of clouds in landscape paintings or photographs.
Paint the background sky. The background sky can range from a cerulean blue to a muddy grey.
Sketch an outline of how the clouds will appear.
Use bright colors (mixed with white) to paint the top of the cloud. This area is where the sunlight hits the cloud. Use circular strokes with your brush. You can use the side of a fan brush.
Paint the bottom half of the cloud. Make sure to use darker colors than the top part. You can use dark greys mixed with white. Clouds generally have a sort of flat bottom.
Carefully, blend all the colors together.
