I had another play with your rainbow

I had another play with your rainbow by Gareth Pritchard.

I took my own advice, just like I told you to do and looked at a 100 rainbows, just for something to do , wow it worked, it can be better but that depends on you.

What did I do, I found an idea for a rainbow sky, stolen as I always like to do, I did a mix of the North Wales Mountains, as a welcome to the Fairy Dell, I don't know exactly where it is, as you don't with places like that but I just know it is useful. It is a big image at big quality and might print out big, like over 70cm wide, so if somebody wanted to test it, they can and it would look great at that size, on a wall. You would get the detail at that size but I don't know about the joint’s, anyway that's up to others not me I just made it for something to do because I can.

Do you fancy having a go, at telling me, what you would describe as artistic flair, do you care, what about experiments, I think you tell great stories, good old Lutwidge, he did a grand job didn't he just and yes you must.

Did you know that fairies exist all over the world, I met leprechauns in Ireland and trolls in Norway, same people, different place, the Challis was a naughty girl. Ted knows her well enough, she was banging on about Trippinn and I said over the next brow you know, you can't tell but I can, when you get excited, in the clean mountain air. There it is see it down there, just listen for a minute, one drink with Troll and I am off to get things done and I will see you on Groneday about dinner time and before tea. What did I say? Groneday before tea but it could be dinner time and there she was gone, I’ll get you a drink and tell Troll your on your way, old man, give him chance to make his excuses or get gone.

Troll will be there I shouted but she didn't hear she was gone, time for a sit down on the green side, listen to a song for a few minuets, as a voice boomed out, not taday, your not Bogster. Girffda I forgot you lived here, hows the old turn doing, still got a twist in your water, dear chap, still farming the old green bugs or have you gone back to slugs?

Will Last, is he still about in the old Brogue, do you know Griff? What do you think?

Is you going to get out your artistic flair or what.

I am going to send you a message with a link if I can so you can see the image in bigger detail and down load it, please don't give it away unless you have to.

Very interesting pictures! I think my kids still believe in fairies. But they started getting suspicious whether those little footprints by the front door and the window sills were truly from leprechauns or just an act of their parents'.

Hi Kitty,

I just had a flight of fancy but I am sure there is actually a place in North Wales called the Faerie Dell but it might be Del or even Glen, I haven't been able to find it, only a hotel called the Faerie Glen in the right area. The pictures are amazing really, I made them a few years ago and if you have them on your computer full size, like I do, you can zoom in for miles and see the finest detail, its just a pity the web is so difficult to translate pictures like this easily.

Thanks for your comment, Gareth.

Gareth, I love your style and originality. You certainly know how to play with colors in a way that is very pleasing to the eye. You are extremely talented. Thank you for sharing your art with us. To paint like this you must be a beautiful person inside.Voted up and awesome.

Hi mcals71,

Thank you for your comment and I am sorry it is not clear but these are not paintings as such, they are a mixture pf photographs, digital renderings and traditional mediums, such as drawing, ink and paint. The main bulk of the images are multiple photographs joined together in a mosaic.

Thanks again, Gareth.

mcals71 4 years ago

That makes them even more creative. Wonderful work!

Hi mcals71,

Yes, I thought that they are more interesting than just being photographs or paintings, and I love making mosaic images but they are just too big to do anything with them only printing them really, as I have already said too big to present their full awe for on line.

Thanks, Gareth.

You added some more. How delightful!

You'll have to stop playing with my rainbow, Gareth!!

Seriously though - voted up and across because this is yet another wonderful post from you. I'm looking forward to diplaying fairy dell on my next hub, with credits to the amazing Gareth Pritchard. Thank you, Gareth. And I'll certainly be getting the RSS feed to your drawing website.

I am so glad I came upon this hub Gareth;it's beautiful and so interesting.

You are without a doubt a brilliant artist and I look forward to reading so many more hubs by you.

I have to vote up up and away!!.

It is also nice to find someone else from Wales on here as well.

Take care and have a great day.

Eddy.

Hey Eddy I love the name, Eddy Cool, I am sure that was a character from something or was it Daddy Cool in a song, Ummm? Anyway I like it, I once new a girl called Stan.

I am overwhelmed a bit by this hub to be honest, pleased but overwhelmed, people really do seem to like it, that's not because I am walking round patting myself on the back but because I do feel that when you like something, it makes you feel good and I am sure its important to feel good.

Thank you and everybody else for their votes, I'm honored, I have been called a brilliant artist many times and it still sounds good, I would think it would have worn off by now but it hasn't, thanks again.

It sure is nice to meet a Welsh Gal in Wales on Hubpages, you must be Welsh with a name like Eiddwen, that's got to be a good old Welsh name like Gareth.

Eddy Cool from Wales, its a song, I met a gal called Eddy Cool.

Thank you for your blessings, Gareth.

Hi soumen_roy,

Thank you for you comment I am happy you liked it and that seems to be the case with so many people I am a bit surprised.

All the best, Gareth.

Another pearl for your crown. Beautiful. And you are left-handed, like two of my kids. You know what they say about left handed people...LOL! I do oil paintings so I have often gone on You Tube to check out different techniques. It's fun to watch artists work on their canvas, and learning as well. I would be interested to see how you do those rainbow compositions shown above. It's a method I've never seen before. Thank you again and God Bless.

Hear it once more, Gareth - you are a BRILLIANT artist - oh yesssssss you are!

Hi mcals71,

That particular part of the image has been created using GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program)which is a free software for manipulating digital images on your computer. It is another image that has been stretched and distorted using this software. The whole image has been constructed using GIMP, the beauty of GIMP is it is free, this type of software can cost as much as $500 if had to buy it, there are others around that cost less but to be honest I have used most of them and prefer GIMP. The best way to find out more about it is to do a search here on Hubpages as there is a great deal of useful information about it to be consumed and interesting images. To do this with paints I would paint think blobs of paint on one side of the canvas or painting area using the colors of choice. Then spread them across to the other side of the painted area so as to make them streak into each other. I have used the same technique to create rippled sun set sky's in oil with big 8" inch decorating brushes and straight edges of cardboard. I really enjoy working in ways like that because you don't have full control and it creates great opportunity for happy accidents. I hope this was useful to you and please do a search for GIMP it will be interesting if nothing else.

Thanks Gareth.

I love fairies and elves! Sweet hub, and the rainbows are great! Voted up!

Gareth Pritchard profile image

Gareth Pritchard 4 years ago from North Wales Author

Hi Marcy,

Thank you for your comment and vote, it would seem that you are not alone in your love of fairies, I find the whole idea of other creatures living undetected in the same space as people a fascinating concept. Funny how I never really had any incline towards rainbows until now, perhaps because ordinarily they are difficult to recreate convincingly using traditional art mediums but much easier with digital images.

Thank you again, Gareth.

Hi, I am trying an experiment, I have put two more images into this hub that I think people will like so I am posting this comment hoping some will return to see what it is about.

If you do return, then thank you for doing so.

your rainbow image will be in my new hub - should be completed tonight! I'm such a fan of yours, Gareth.

Gareth Pritchard profile image

Hey Sheila,

I can barely wait but I have no choice in the matter. (I'm such a fan of yours) I wounder what that means? I was once an Hawkwind fan. Now I dig The MasterBakers.

I need a fairy I think, I could start a poll, do you think I need a fairy poll, interaction is cool.

By the way it is not my rainbow image, it has moved on, I gave that one to you.

Thanks, Gareth.

Hi Gareth.. Wonderfully creative! I have been messing with photos too lately, looking for ideas for hub of blog. Very inspiring. Faerie Dell is ringing bells with me. There is a vaugue recollection of seeing it on one of my tours around North Wales, but it could have been a dream. But isn't life a dream anyway? We keep moving on through time trying to hold on to it, so I will keep dreaming on :-)

Gareth Pritchard profile image

Gareth Pritchard 4 years ago from North Wales Author

Hi Derek,

I was dreaming because it is actually called the Faerie Glen near Betws-Y-Coed a very beautiful place but the Faerie Dell works for me because it is a fantasy in the making after all. I liked your blog and will be going back as soon as I have completed this.

Thanks for the comment, Gareth.

As a child, I had an image in my mind of fairies dancing around a flickering fire in a wooded setting. Quite lovely! Toadstools were their seats. Your hub reminded me of my childhood daydreams. Enjoyed seeing your images. Nice! Voted up and interesting.

Hi Peggy W, thank you for your comment and votes I stated doing some fairies but then got distracted by other things, perhaps I will get back to them, thanks again, Gareth.

"Did you know that fairies exist all over the world" - I went to an "all smiles" pose when I read this sentence. : )

If I would have ate some magic mushrooms before this read, I would have had a serious dilemma: am I in Alice's rabbit hole already?

I love your mushroom photos (mushrooms in general too) and your rainbows. I am fairly sure I mentioned that I love colours before and rainbows are the perfect manifestation of colours, in my opinion.

Fun read! Thank You. : )
