Interesting Pictures of Dogs

So, you like dogs...

And who doesn't? They are pretty amazing, what with being man's best friend and all. They are, in essence, controlled wolves - and I need not explain our unending fascination with those wild beasts. Domesticated over 15,000 years ago, dogs have gained and maintained their position by our side as hunters, trackers, protectors, and companions.

The braveness of these animals has not gone unnoticed, and their loveliness is far from ignored. They are the stars of movies, the basis of stories, the inspiration of poetry and the role model for thousands of people across the globe. To be as the dog is to be humble, loyal, and honest. To be like a wolf is to be fierce in both love and war.

I am no exception when it comes to my appreciation for these magnificent creatures, in all their various shapes and states of wildness or domestication, and I am thrilled anew watching them behave as they do. Whether in the field or on the couch, these animals may never lose their charm in our eyes.

I have collected a few of my favorite canine photos for the purpose of easy recall and also to share with other dog lovers such as myself. These are not typical images one might find in a meme database, and I can't honestly describe why they strike me as emotional, inspirational, or otherwise, but they do. Perhaps they will for you too.

Great selection - I especially liked the puli or komondor (I think) by Tim Flach.

Indeed! I believe that one is a puli, he has also photographed black ones.

Nice collection. There are quite a few I have never seen and you put them together well. Thanks.

Nice one! I particularly liked the dog chasing the ball underwater. They have a capacity for the comic as well as for intimidation. I have a video with footage of a Border Collie opening a window to where some cakes sit in a farmhouse window. When he's taken what he wants he jumps back out again and shuts the window behind him.

Great photos of our beloved best friend! I'm with Nettle - I like the one of the komondor the best. It's so cool the way nature "braids" its hair! Voted up.

Cool photos. I liked the two where the dogs are chasing the ball the best.
