Let just admit it, sexy is popular. No matter where anything that we can consider to be sexy is people will look. Advertisers, marketing people and many industries have been aware of this since the word sexy came to first used.

Many photographers have also taken advantage of the attraction of anything sexy to make photographic use of the theme.

Calendars featuring sexy people, sexy models posing next to cars and generally and often gratuitous use of sexy has been paired with items that are remotely sexy just to make a sale or at least brand into the consumer's mind that the product is sexy simply because it is next to a sexy model and so on.

What is it that attracts so much attention to anything that may even remotely suggest sexiness?

That is more complicated than you may know and scientists have been trying to figure this very same question for quite some time.

What a person likes and dislikes is very capricious and often unpredictable with sometimes no discernible pattern or reason.

However when it comes to actual attractions, a person's brain is reacting to stimuli and sending out signals that one may not even be aware of.

This stimuli is what determines your reactions and the choices you make.

Anything from a certain sound, smell or an actual or perceived physical change; new hairstyle, new makeup, or some clothing styles can and often do alter your mind in many different ways.

Many different affect how we interpret something or someone to be sexy. The key is to be tasteful and creative at the same time.

When setting up to do your shoot keep in mind that you are to take pictures that represent something sexy and not something a bit more stronger.

There is usually a fine line between something that is sexy and something that can lean more towards the erotic more even something stronger.

Using good judgment is paramount when performing this particular project.

Use good judgment and bear in ind that suggestion is often better than a full reveal.

Besides any image that transcends from sexy into something stronger limits your audience and the uses for the images.

If your plan is to capture images for use in a photographic project then you are not a limited as if you were to use the images to submit to a publishers lauding your artistic skills and photographic prowess while seeking future jobs.

If shooting for your benefit then a studio set up is better. Use a regular photo lamp and an reflector plus a 55 mm prime lens.

If shooting alongside products then set up on a location that will serve to add interest that will make the product more attractive and set up the model alongside it but do not make her so much part of the scene that it overwhelms the product you are featuring.

Advertisers will like to see a well balanced presentation featuring the product and the model side by side. Once you are done seek advertisers that deal with the product you are featuring.

Seek a well balanced series of products to make a good presentation to a matching product/company. For example a photo of a car will not be appealing to a maker of swimwear no matter how sexy the model posing next to the product is.

A good technique is to approach publications or advertisers prior to starting and seek their approval for submissions. They will often send you a requirement's list which includes technical information and formats.

Remember that advertisers need enough room at the top and sides of each image so that they can add their text so do not crop the image so much that you leave little room for it.

Hi Luis - I love your approach to photography, and I believe your photography to be superior to others. The photos are tasteful and follow the fine line. It sounds difficult to achieve.
