Quilters Keepsake_Artist For Hire
As the owner of www.myoquilterskeepsake.com and the mother of three young boys there is never a dull moment in my life.
Come with me on my journey as I face the challenges of working from home with young children and help other quilters as they turn their humble quilting projects into heirlooms.
Artist For Hire
Quilters Keepsake is a small business based in Western Australia which specialises in hand painted quilting fabric. We work from photo's and from simple idea's to design unique panels for our clients to include in their quilting projects. We also have a printed line called Fabric Foto's which our clients use to create printed versions of their photo's.
So how did Quilters Keepsake begin? First, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I suppose I have a touch of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)...or perhaps bipolar is a better title for my behaviour. In either case, I frequently suffer from creative binges.
And boy, do I mean binges! I mean kneeling on the hallway floor at 2am trying to finish my project without waking everyone else up. Sometimes it's writing, sometimes it's quilting. I always go back to painting in the end though. During one of these creative outbursts I created a single bed sized quilt for my four year old child in a vain attempt to get him out of my own bed at night...didn't work. I called it "What little boys are made of" because it featured seven hand painted panels featuring a different bug or butterfly. I received so many compliments on it, so many people told me that I should sell my paintings at the local Sunday market that I decided it was time to get a job! And so www.myoquilterskeepsake was born.
It began with custom made hand painted panels and grew to include Fabric Foto's and a forum. It's been slow getting it up and running but I feel happy with the way it's working now.
