Now you can enjoy having this reproduction sewing machine cabinet complete with Janome flatbed model #712T treadle sewing machine.
If you are like me one of the joys of visiting Grandma, besides her home baked cookies, was to get to play on her old treadle sewing machine. She taught me to sew on that old machine; we would spend hours together making all types of things for me to take home for the next school year. I have very fawn memories of the summers spent working on the treadle.
Now you can enjoy having this nostalgic reproduction working sewing machine cabinet complete with a modern treadle sewing machine.
Cabinet is made for the very popular Janome flatbed model #712T treadle sewing machine. The model #712T machine can be purchased with the cabinet. The cabinet will also fit the old Singer Class 15 cabinet mount sewing machines.
Once you experience sewing on a treadle machine going to electric is a whole new world. People have collected the nostalgic sewing machine cabinets for many years. Many still use them as sewing machines, while others use them to decorate with.
We stumbled onto these stunning reproduction cabinets and had to stop for a second look. These are very close reproduction of the early wooden sewing machine cabinets. They look like some of the early Singer model cabinets with three drawers on each side and a flip open tray in the middle.
The legs on these are wooden but the foot treadle looks and works just like the old time ones.
This is not the imported Alphasew treadle cabinet being marketed on the Internet. The cabinet is Amish handcrafted in America.
The top and front part of the cabinet including the drawer fronts are made from ¾” solid oak. The sides including the legs are made from cabinet premium grade oak veneer plywood. This is laminated plywood and not veneered particle board used in so much furniture today. The plywood gives the legs extra strength.
This cabinet very much lives up to the standards of Amish craftsmanship.
The cabinet is UPS shippable in two boxes the top part comes assembled in one box and the legs and treadle come in a separate box. The cabinet has metal threaded “Tee Nuts” to make aligning and assembly of the legs very easy.
The treadle is powder coated and heavy duty for years of sewing just like the one Grandma use to have.
The cabinet is designed for the very popular Janome flatbed model #712T treadle sewing machine. In fact the cabinet can be ordered by itself or as a package with the 712T model sewing machine from Cottage Craft Works.
Cottage Craft Works also carries many other different custom sewing cabinets and accessories made in the Amish communities. Custom built cabinets can be made to fit any make or model sewing machine. Custom cabinets can also be built with a fold down serger compartment. The custom cabinet model is pictured in cherry.
The cabinets are Amish handcrafted and it may take from two to three weeks to have this heirloom cabinet built and delivered for you to teach your own Granddaughters the joy of sewing on a treadle sewing machine. They are worth the wait!
