Roses An Eternal Symbol Of Love

Every one knows that a single red rose is a sign of true love, But what about the many other colours that they come in.

The white rose is a symbol of purity and innocensce, of youth and humility

If you get three roses of any colour it means "I love you".

Yellow is the colour of joy and gladness or maybe just to show "I Care".

A pink rose can mean "thank you", shows admiration and appreciation.

If you are lucky enough to get ten roses, someone thinks you are perfect!

Edgar Lee Masters

Edgar Lee Masters born in 1868 lived until 1950. He was and American, Attorney, Bioghrapher, poet and Dramatist. Altogether he wrote 21 poetry books. Below is Love Is A Madness in it's entirety

Love is a madness, love is a fevered dream,
A white soul lost in a field of scarlet flowers,
Love is a search for the lost, the ever vanishing gleam
Of wings, desires and sorrows and haunted hours.

Will the look return to your eyes, the warmth to your hand?
Love is a doubt, an ache, love is a writhing fear.
Love is a potion drunk when the ship puts out from land,
Rudderless, sails at full, and with none to steer.

The end is a shattered lamp, a drunken seraph asleep,
The upturned face of the drowned on a barren beach.
The glare of noon is o'er us, we are ashamed to weep,
The beginning and end of love are devoid of speech.

Love Alone Is Great In MIght by George MacDonald

Love alone is great in might,
Makes the heavy burden light,
Smooths rough ways to weary feet,
Makes the bitter morsel sweet:
Love alone is strength!

Might that is not born of Love
Is not Might born from above,
Has its birthplace down below
Where they neither reap nor sow:
Love alone is strength!

Love is stronger than all force,
Is its own eternal source;
Might is always in decay,
Love grows fresher every day:
Love alone is strength!

Little ones, no ill can chance;
Fear ye not, but sing and dance;
Though the high-heaved heaven should fall
God is plenty for us all:
God is Love and Strength!

George MacDonald

Born in 1824 in Scotland George was a well known poet and Author. His fantasy writings were admired by many and influenced such authors as J R Tolkien and Lewis Carroll. Below are some links to some of his writings
