Mother Nature and Personal Grounding A Sacred Practice

Some say there are a variety of benefits derived from practicing meditation. Benefits from stress relief to enhanced creativity and intuition, to even potentially accelerated physical and emotional healing have all been linked to this very personal discipline. People who practice meditation are often able to achieve greater control over their emotional state, their habits, their careers, and their health. Meditation helps in grounding energy and gravitating spiritual energy flows to higher levels of self realization.

By creating a private place to practice meditation one might encourage the pursuit of self discipline and balanced energy in hopes of achieving personal growth. Some useful items gifted from Mother Nature can be helpful in the meditation process. Natural materials found on the Earth can be used for decorating a sacred meditation altar with items that appeal to your spirit. This sort of practice has been going on for centuries in many regions worldwide.

Mother Nature's Natural Gifts are Elemental

Water, Fire, Air and Earth are the 4 basic natural elements. From them we are given a wide array of items made up of a mixture of the basic 4 and then some. These are just some of the natural gifts often used to practice meditation.

Gemstones, candles, feathers, and herbs are just a few things used in creating a personal meditation altar. The idea is to get personal and get comfortable and focus on their spirit and how it interacts with the world as a whole. Through ritualistic practice we seek to find a deeper meaning to the question of our being and our purpose. Using items found in nature helps to put our own existence into some kind of perspective. The nature of this shrine building habit has lead way for my latest creative pursuit using elemental gifts from Mother Nature.

On Designing Potable Meditation Altars

This is something that has been living in my head for well over twenty years. I have designed and constructed several table top meditation altars recently. My goal was to capture a bit of nature and arrange it in a convenient and practical way to be used as a portable altar. Had to be free standing. Had to be able to move easy and it had to be compact.

They are meant to be personalized as the individual who uses one grows, practices and adds their own unique baubles to the portable altar.

Sacred Ground Meditation Altars Are Works of Art

These altars are relatively miniature. My intentions made so they can be placed on a night stand, in a window ledge, on top of a dresser, chest or small table. These altars are portable as the main elements are all attached in a creatively designed assemblage.

This is mixed media artwork with purpose. Designed for convenience, comfort and ease. It is not always easy to make your way to a beach, river bank, or woodland setting just so you can practice meditation. This design brings just enough of Mother Nature's fresh and inspiring elements into your personal space. They can easily be set up anywhere someone feels comfortable enough to practice meditation.

The basics are built right in to each altar design They are ready to be customized by the individual. A candle near by, some interesting rocks, shells or gemstones, feathers and other small tokens can be added to the altar at will. Made for portability and growth.

Focus on the Knot Holes

This miniature and portable design is a perfect place to set up a table top meditation altar ready to put to good use. The knot holes lend a place to focus.
