Mary, Mhatter99, thanks for commenting on my 60's sci-fi hub, always appreciated.

Mary, so glad you like them. When I started this one I thought there wouldn't be many interesting posters and I'd have to include 70's sci-fi as well, I was wrong. There was too many posters from the 60's I wanted to use and eventually narrowed it down to 50.

Mhatter99, and I was too busy playing with my toys. :)

Thank you both for posting.

Another great set of posters. No wonder Science Fiction was considered low-brow in the Fifties and early Sixties. Now we're in the 21st century it seems like a lot of S-F movies/shows are what have been labelled Technology Opera (and very little story). How many times will the characters warily walk down dark corridors? BTW Day of the Triffids scared the hell out of this 10-year-old. I notice the poster is not exactly accurate (gasp)-- those plants don't talk English or anything, they just do a gurggly-clicky sort of thing.

Haha I hadn't noticed the word "talk" on the Triffids poster, did the poster artist see the film? Hilarious.

A lot of the sci-fi of the 50's and 60's ended up on Mystery Science Theater 3000. I like the cheesy settings and atmosphere on a lot of these films, TV had all the best sci-fi in the 60's, Star Trek, Twilight Zone, The Invaders, The Prisoner, The Avengers, Outer Limits, Dr. Who, Captain Scarlet... :)

Thanks as always for for commenting David.

Nice collection of science fiction posters. The first half of the hub, I must admit not only had I not seen many of the movies...I have not even heard of them before reading your hub.

I rebounded nicely once your hub reached the 1960s as I have seen almost every single one of the movies at that point.

I do not think the Barbarella poster did Jane Fonda enough justice....as she is very sexy in that movie....but not so much in the poster.

2001 is a classic....so I am always glad to see it make lists and hubs...voted up and awesome.

Hi Bruce, thanks for commenting on my 60's sci-fi hub, always appreciated.

I like that Barbarella poster but it's not my favourite, there is another more familiar one painted by Boris Vallejo which I prefer. It's on my Barbarella hub if you want to check it out.

The highest rated film on this page is 2001 A Space Odyssey, followed by Planet of the Apes, no surprises there. Lowest rated is the Hammer studio's space western, Moon Zero Two, they should stick to horror. :)

Thanks for posting.

Hi Steve; I love sci-fi. Thanks for the trip down memory lane,

Great job, as usual, finding the pictures,

Rob

Thanks again Rob, some of these posters are more exciting than the films themselves. Wild Wild Planet looks like it might be the greatest film ever until you sit down and watch it. :)

Great posters for a lot of good movies. The remake of the Time Machine with Guy Pierce was also pretty good. I saw where they were showing the one with Rod Taylor on TV just the other day. I watched some of it. I saw it years ago. I like both of them because I'm a fan of both Rod Taylor and Guy Pierce.

Planet of the Apes is a classic of course and so is 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Special affects today has made sc-fi really exciting. I love the newest Star Trek and the latest Planet of the Apes.

Voted up and interesting.

Thanks Ann, appreciate the comment and vote. I'm glad you liked the posters and enjoy some sci-fi. I should be publishing the 70's sci-fi poster hub in a week or so.

Thanks for posting.
