Shelled Crochet Easter Basket Pattern

Source

I have been working very hard on a couple of crocheted Easter Basket patterns after not being able to find one online that struck my fancy. This Shelled Easter Basket is the second of the two that I made and wanted to make it more of a girls' style basket. This one that I've made is for my little girl, and I wanted her to be able to use this basket as a little carrying bag even after Easter because she loves purses. This is the reason for the button and loop that I added to the bag. You can of course do the same or not do the same. If you decide to make one of your own, I would love to see the finished product.

Be sure to check out my post 15 Cutest FREE Crochet Easter Basket Patterns.

This is an original pattern of mine, and any items made from this pattern you are free to sale, however, please do NOT sale my pattern, or repost it anywhere on your site. I ask that if you share about the pattern, please link back here to the actual pattern as a courtesy.

How much of each color do you think you used? I have skeins in several colors I'd like to use up.

I love how this basket looks, but I am having trouble with the base of it. I have started over 4 time now and it still looks wonky. Could you provide a picture of the base so I can try to figure out what I am doing wrong. It would be greatly appreciated. I am nothing if not determined:)

I am totally lost on the base. It says in round 1 to work in the first ch 3 space, but I don't have any ch 3 spaces. Did I miss something in the first part? Please help. I want to make this for my granddaughter who lives in TX and I need to get it done so I can ship it.
