Thomas Kinkade, America's most collected living artist, is known as "Painter of Light". The left handed painter from California, emphasizes simple pleasures and inspirational messages through his paintings. A devout Christian, Kinkade says he gains his inspiration from his religious belief. His goal as an artist is to touch people of all faiths, and to bring peace and joy into their lives through the images he creates. After studies at the University of California at Berkeley, and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, Kinkade began work for the motion picture industry at the age of 22. A devoted husband and doting father to their four daughters leads a balanced life, committed to family values. Thomas kinkade is involved in several charitable organizations in the United States. Recently he was chosen as a National Spokesman for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and has raised over $ 150,000 for the organization.

Sorry, this kind of work does nothing for me. From those animated versions I can't tell what his real paintings look like but, judging from the thumbnails you've included in your Hub, he's an OK landscape painter.

Interesting. I thought that Kinkades painting became famous by his technique, which is the reason I came to be a fan of Kinkade in the first place.

So when you buy a kinkade it comes with lighting instuctions. His technique shift the painting from day to afternoon to light and it is pretty amazing and worth the money.

CWB, you should go to a kinkade gallery or if you pass by one, check it out cause it is actually really cool. Its not about what he is painting, it is how he paints. Really, next time you pass one buy in a gallery, look. :)

Art is subjective. I do love the Light the pictures give off. Thanks for sharing this hub. Please see how I try to help others in new ways too. Sincerely: Gary Eby, author and therapist.

Thank you for such a sweet Hub StarCatch!!

As an artist myself I love Kincade's paintings!! More importantly, I love what he has done for the "love of art!!" Many people who would never dream of buying fine art, have become collectors themselves!! And once they have collected a few, they often branch out and look for other artists to add to thier homes!! It has been very beneficial to our local art community!!

I would love to see more in your Hub about the "other" style of painting Kincade does, which I understand is HIS first love!! Having seen them I would say they are just as lovely, a bit more painterly and a bit less commercial!!

Plus, how about a piece on how Kincade actually gets the light into his paintings?? It's a simple technique, very effective, and is why the different lighting makes such a difference!!

Thanks again for a wonderful Hub!! Blessings always, Earth Angel!!
