Three Stunning Pieces From Thomas Arvid
Thomas Arvid is known for his love of art as well as his love of wine. His work has become part of a new approach to still life art. Oversize, close up renditions of a simple object that transforms it into not only an examination of everyday joy but of the joy it brings to people. Viewers are compelled to imagine what lies beyond the borders of his work which makes every piece timeless, personal and intimate.
Although much of Arvid's work focuses on the wine itself, this painting is more reflective. It's an after moment that brings a smile to the viewer. It inspires feelings of both lingering over the memories of bottles long spent as well as the soft anticipation of what the future holds, and what will be poured with friends. Corks in some bottles suggest there's more left to share and the details in the shredded labels and reflection in the green glass makes it more photographic than artistic. A close up still like this is a hallmark of Arvid Art. He enjoys taking a closer look at the everyday which makes his work at once universal and deeply personal.
When It Rains
When it Rains is a perfect Arvid piece. It brings together the elements for which he is most well known – wine in the middle of being shared. He plays with light and texture to truly bring the painting to life and, for a moment, viewers may be tempted to instinctively reach for the glass. As with most of his work, viewers find themselves instantly finishing the picture, letting their minds fill in the space beyond the edges of the piece. Thomas Arvid uses the way the light reflects off the bottle, the neck, the corkscrew and even the wine itself to create a truly photographic finish and one which invites others to share in the moment with him as well as to make it their own. As always, his work is a prime example of truly fine art both in technique and execution. When It Rains is a perfect example of the kind of work that has made Thomas Arvid an integral part of the new landscape of fine art.

Although more known for his work with wine, Thomas Arvid doesn't discriminate against the rest of the bar shelf. Martini-Cigar is a prime example of how Arvid's unique perspective can be applied to a seemingly innocuous moment and elevate it to something truly refined. The lines and style in Martini-Cigar are controlled without being rigid and Arvid captures the middle of a drink, the middle of a cigar and the middle of an early evening with perfect balance and artistic flair. Arvid's technique is on full display here as we can see the detail in everything from the reflection in the drink itself to the fine, powdery lines of the ash on the cigar. In the end, this piece embodies what Thomas Arvid and his subjects always have in common – they are each something to be savored, enjoyed and ultimately shared with friends.
