Ah, the Sixties. All those war movies (mostly WWII). It's hard to believe that the war had ended only 15 years before 1960. That was the decade for the heroic war movie. By the end of the Sixties, Vietnam had kind of spoiled it. Great posters (as usual).

Thanks David, appreciate the comment. Looking at it decade by decade I think the 60's was the best decade for war movies. Bridge on the River Kwai was the big one of the 50's but the 60's had a whole bunch of spectacular and highly rated war epics.

Highest rated here is The Great Escape followed by The Dirty Dozen and The Longest Day.

Lowest rated is The Green Berets, John Wayne's infamous salute to the Vietnam war.

Thanks for posting.

Some very good movies listed among your movie posters. Easily the favorite for me is The Great Escape....I really like that poster...never seen that one before. I always get Too Late The Hero confused with another Michael Caine movie...Play Dirty....it has been years since I have seen either one of them....but one of them has an excellent ending.

I remember watching The Night of the Generals many times as a kid on cable tv.....seems I never saw the ending....and got confused by it as a kid...but I see a 7.1 rating....so many it is worth another viewing.

As always you have done a fantastic job of putting all of these posters together....voted up and interesting.

Thanks for commenting on my war hub Bruce, much appreciated.

Not sure I've seen Play Dirty, I'll have to look it up.

Night of the Generals is an interesting murder mystery, women are brutally murdered and a top German general is suspected, who can it be? It's not a huge surprise.

Two films on here I can't remember if I've seen or not, The War Lover and The Devil's Brigade.
