Crochet for Halloween

Make this Halloween special for all of your favorite trick-or-treaters. These free crochet patterns will give you a good start on the season. You'll find pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, bats, candy carriers and many more. Don't forget to make some decorations for the house too.

Bats

Halloween wouldn't be complete without some creepy bats to decorate with.

These little amigurumi bats would make cute toys for the kids or great decorations for Halloween. They are from the website "Fuzzy Feet Works."

The crochet pattern is for a 4 1/2" bat created with worsted weight yarn and a size G crochet hook. This is tiny and could be used for an applique' for a Halloween bag, a pin, or other uses.

This free crochet pattern for a bat magnet fridgie is extra nice. Use it on the fridge or use it for an applique'. She did an extra nice job designing the pattern.

The bat pattern is from About.com. They suggest using thread for a bat applique' or using worsted weight yarn to make a party decoration. The pattern uses very little yarn, so get out your scrap bag.

This is an especially nice pattern to make a crochet bat that is realistic. She used Caron Simply soft yarn and a size D crochet hook. The gauge and yarn type aren't that important, but will affect the size of the bat.

Black Cats

Black cats are a Halloween favorite.

Costumes

These aren't full costumes, but are items you'll find handy to make your own.

These are realistic Spock ears to add to a costume. They are offered by the site Croshame.

Add the Star Trek badge to the Spock ears and your halfway to a costume. This is offered by Tina's Crochet Page.

Ghosts

Ghosts and Halloween go together.

The Boo Ghosts are really cute. Talking Crochet offers the pattern for free to print. The ghosts are designed with Super Saver Yarn. If I crocheted any of these projects, this would be the one. It is a must see.

Everyday Mom Ideas has a cute pattern for little ghost with a nice photo with ideas with what to do with them. Photos are included to show you each step. This is a good project for beginners, since they make it so easy to understand.

About.com offers a cute ghost applique' that is designed with white worsted yarn and a size G crochet hook. A small amount of darker colored yarn will be needed for the eyes. Use your imagination and use it for pins, appliques for kid's clothes and more.

Friendly Ghost pattern is offered by Planet M. Also offered are some pumpkin patterns. The free crochet ghost patterns are just 2 1/2" tall. This would make a great scrap crochet project.

Jack-O-Lanterns

Jack-o-lanterns are an all time Halloween favorite that you can use year-after-year. Crochet several of these.

This cute jack-o-lantern is offered by Craftown. It is stuffed with polyester fiberfill. The project is crocheted with rug yarn, but you could use any type and just crochet a smaller pumpkin.

The jack-o-lantern coaster is from JPF Crochet Club. The designer suggest using a felt backing to make the project more protective for your furniture.

This cute jack-o-lantern pin is offered by Red Heart yarn. The pin was created with Super Saver yarn. You'll need scraps of orange, black and green.

This page offered by Chez Crochet offers a jack-o-lantern fridgie, potholder and coaster.

The pattern uses worsted weight yarn and is done in filet crochet on a tan background.

Pumpkins

Pumpkins can be used later for Thanksgiving and Fall decorations.

Patterns for 3 1/2" pumpkins shown in a basket. These are nice for fall decorations. The creations are crocheted with orange and green worsted weight yarn.

For this pattern you'll need orange and worsted weight yarn.

The pumpkin bath tissue cover can be used for either a Halloween decoration or as a fall decoration. This pattern is offered by JPF Crochet Club.

These pumpkin patterns can be crocheted with size 10 thread or any size yarn you'd like to make tiny earrings or a stuffed pumpkin decoration.

Trick or Treat Bags

Crochet a candy bag for the little trick or treaters and they'll have a bag to use for years to come.

The Crochet Dude is the designer of this crochet candy bag. The bag is crocheted with Super Bulky yarn.
