Make Your Own Easter Crafts and Cards
Have Fun Making Your Own Easter Crafts and Easter Cards
Do you want to make your own Easter crafts and cards? Here you will see several examples of hand made items, with instructions for making them yourself. Video demonstrations are included for some, and there are links to other tutorials.
If you're an artsy kind of guy or gal, or if you're an artsy wannabe, you may find some interesting projects on this lens that may inspire you to create something similar. There is a variety here, ranging from hand made Easter cards to an altered art Easter egg, an Easter Bunny House made from cardboard and a paper tussie mussie with hand made tulips.
All of these items can be (and were) made at home using ordinary crafting materials such as cardstock, scrapbook paper, alcohol inks, wires, beads and similar items.
Enjoy browsing and please leave a comment telling me what you found interesting here, if anything.

Tussie Mussie With Hand Made Paper Tulips
A Nosegay with Easter Flowers
To Make the Tussie Mussie
This tussie mussie, or nosegay, is made from card stock that has been dry embossed using a Cuttlebug folder. Simply cut a semi circle out of card stock,. then emboss as desired. Roll up into a cone shape and glue together. It could not be easier.
To Make the Tulips
The tulips were inspired by hand made tulips shown on the Cheeky Magpie blog. The tutorial is no longer at the link I where I found it. It could be that the owner has removed it.
I made a few changes:
1. Instead of using pipe cleaner for the stem, I used green decorator wire. Florist wire would work well.
2. Instead of using rickrack for the stamens, I used yellow ribbon with knots on the ends.
3. I used a couple of small beads to hold the tulip in place on the wire.
4. I added color to the leaves with artist chalks. Inks or other coloring agents would work equally well.
Finishing Touches
Using the same ribbon that I used for the stamens, I tied a bow around the tussie mussie. I attached magnetic tape to the back of the tussie mussie. It now works like a fridge magnet and stands upright on my fridge door. You could also attach a ribbon or string and hang it.
Altered Art Easter Egg
A New Use for Eggshell Mosaic
Egg-Bert, as I call him, is an example of altered art. I decorated a plastic egg using the egg-shell mosaic technique, then added a row of curtain fringe. I experimented with the ribbon flower, but in the end, I removed it. I thought Egg-Bert was most attractive without the bow to distract.
The altered egg opens in the middle, and is hollow inside. I added some potpourri, which smells beautifully since there are air holes in the plastic egg
Additional instructions for making this altered Easter egg are found at this link: How to Make Egg-Bert, the Altered Egg.
Video Demo of an Easter Bunny House
This cute little Easter Bunny House was cut from a cereal box or a pizza box and decorated with scrapbook paper, stickers and miscellaneous Easter images.
Easter Card Featuring Pressed and Dried Crocuses
Flowers Dried Using the Microwave Flower Press
This hand made Easter card features pressed and dried crocuses. You will find directions for drying flowers in the Microwave Flower Press (or Microfleur as it is called in Europe) at this link: Instructions for Using the Microwave Flower Press.
Otherwise, the card has a white, dry embossed background made using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. The sentiment, Easter Greetings, is stamped onto a white scalloped circle and mounted on a larger, lavender colored scalloped circle. The circles are die cuts using Spellbinders Nestabilities dies.
I added a strip of lavender colored micro beads for trim and also a yellow hat pin.
Video Demo of an Easter Card Featuring the Burnished Glitter Technique
The Burnished Glitter Technique was trademarked by a couple of local artists from Be Creative Rubber Stamping Store in Pitt Meadows, BC.

Kid's Easter Card
With Fluffy Bunny Tail
It's down the rabbit hole with this cute Easter card for a kid. I made this at a Make and Take at Scrap Arts in North Vancouver.
It is almost self explanatory. You cut paper circles and ovals out of card stock and affix to your background as shown in the picture.
Glue a cotton ball on where the bunny's tail should go.
I added a stamped sentiment saying Easter Greetings.
