I think it's called "pencil vs camera".

I saw those images you have there along with many others on stumbleupon. I think I liked it on my profile in there if you can't find it maybe you can find me in there. I'm still new at it all and I don't really know much about how it all works.

The technique is rather new and it's being called Pencil vs Camera. Its major proponent who has made a very successful practice of it is Ben Heine (http://www.benheine.com/)

Basically you take one photograph. Using a digital editing program like Photoshop, make a copy of the original photo, turn the copy into a pencil drawing, make irregular digital cuts and add this pencil copy into the original photograph using composite layers. If the drawing is meant to be a different scene, then make a drawing, take a photo of it  and add it with a digital editing program using layers again.

Thanks for that Luis... the genre is awesome and as you have pointed out... not so hard to achieve with a bit of practice... there are so many niches for such work... really appreciate you guys bringing this up.. take care..
