"The first-ever F1 race in the tiny island of Singapore at night."

According to Mario Theissen, boss of BMW Sauber, the world's first-ever Formula One night race is going to take place this coming weekend on September 28, 2008 in Singapore. The race will be held under spotlights on a street circuit will be a new experience for everyone involved, than at the other circuit making its debut in Valencia. The expectation of the race is great, Theissen said. He quotes "Singapore is the second unknown quantity on the calendar this year after Valencia". Both the cities are wellknown for the Grand Prix, but the exictement climaxes as the action will take place under floodlights in Singapore against amazing backdrop. A team management had a look around the circuit, and they were given a demonstration of the lighting system and they were very impressed saying that it would actually be as bright as day. To illuminate the 5,067 Km long Marina Bay track, there will be 1,500 lighting projectors powered by 12 pairs of diesel generators, organizers say. The Italian firm Valerio Maioli Specialists in lighting have come up with their unique lighting system, the system they developed will minimize the glare and reflections from wet surfaces and spray from cars by using lighting projectors strategically positioned around the track. Each light will be four times brighter than those used at football stadiums. DigiFlags make debut at Singapore Formula One GP. Hermann Tilke has designed every track in F1. Tire suppliers Bridgestone will be using special reflective paint to mark their super-soft and extreme-wet compounds at the Singapore Grand Prix.

"It will be more than just a motor race," commented Singapore's minister of State for Trade and Industry, Mr. S. Iswaran. "We envision it to be national festival, and one that presents many opportunities for participation for everyone, both visitors and Singaporeans alike." As per BMW Sauber technical director , Willy Rampf, the sell out Singapore race would be highlight night race for spectators and would be memorable.

I have always enjoyed formula 1 immensely.

Unfortunately it is now part of a problem that will require its elimination.

Most of its contributions are of a negative nature and not outweighed by the few safety advances it’s made for the automobile industry.

It’s sad but auto racing is a nonessential activity that causes more harm than good.

To address the global climate change crisis we will be forced to forego those activities which worsen the problem and are not vital to the functioning of society.
