Pros and Cons of EZ Pass and Other Toll Tag Holders

The Convenience of using Electronic Tolling is Undeniable

We have all come to depend on our electronic tolling devices. The most common of these is EZ Pass which is used in the Northeastern United States. Florida uses SunPass and California uses Fastrak. Together there are over 20 million transponders in use.

It is estimated that up to 40% of these EZ Passes are not held in place on a car's windshield. Instead they are either allowed to slide back and forth on the car's dashboard or are stuck in a glove compartment. The primary reason that so many EZ Pass transponders are not attached to the inside of the car's windshield is that they don't like the way they look. The other fear is that the transponder will be stolen, which doesn't make sense because if you use it a picture of your license plate is on record. That's not good news for for thieves.

It is imperative for these EZ Pass transponders to be attached to the inside of the car's windshield for two reasons. The first reason is that the transponders that are held in the drivers' hand and "waved" at the tollbooth cause a high percentage of failed and false readings because they are not pointed at the proper lane. This causes the tolling authorities to do extra work which adds to the costs of the program. However the most important reason to have the EZ Pass fixed to the inside of a windshield is safety, your safety. Most accidents occur on toll roads near the toll booths. One of the biggest culprits is car's swerving and changing lanes because the driver is looking for or can't find their EZ Pass.

That brings us to the point we have been trying to get to. EZ Pass holders. The main negative about an EZ pass holder would be the looks and since you have to put something in the windshield because it could save your life or the lives of other people traveling on the highway, it really doesn't matter.

Here is a choice of EZ Pass holders superezpassholders.com, ezpassholder.com tonicconcept.com and http://www.LogoTollTags.com. Most of these suction cup choices allow for the transponder to be moved around easily from car to car in the states that allow transfers. The Logo Toll Tag product has the transponders attach using Dual Lock (it's the Velcro like strips), so they are removable as well

The www.LogoTollTags.com site is unique in that for the Sports Fans it eliminates the unsightly factor that some may say the EZ Pass and EZ Pass holders have. They provide an EZ Pass Holder, that is actually more like a mount that shows off your favorite, MLB, NFL, NHL, NCAA or NASCAR team logo. How much better looking is that for a fan-a-tic? Instead of an ugly white spot you have your favorite team's logo.

Happy Trails
