The Kia Pro_cee'd and Cee’d GT unveiled
Two cracking hot hatches are heading to the UK from the summer in the stylish shape of the Kia Pro-Cee’d and the Cee’d GT.
OK, the first one has a crazy name – but catchy! – and the carmaker has high hopes that they can take on the VW Golf GTi with this car.
Designed in Europe they have been tailored for the market it is aiming for.
The styling is strong and along with Recaro seats, decent cabins they are going to be comfortable to drive.
Kia have also added dual-exhaust pipes and some eye-catching red brake callipers.
To help the Pro_cee’d hit 0-62 in 7.9 seconds, the firm has designed a new 1.6 litre turbocharged engine. There’s also a six speed manual gearbox to help things along the way and, though the car is slightly slower than the Golf GTi it aspires to be, it still does a good job.
Drivers will find the suspension is firmer to help deal with the way the car will, inevitably, be driven. The steering has also been upgraded.
Production starts in May at the Kia factory in Slovakia with the Pro_cee’d hitting showrooms in the summer. GT version will arrive later in the year.
Both of these motors will make their debut at the Geneva motor show in March where they are bound to attract a lot of attention.
Expect too the usual Kia care package to be involved which offers great peace of mind.
Kia is not saying much about prices but they should be around £22,000 which means they are cheaper than the Golf GTi.
