Vauxhall Cascada raises the roof
Forget the miserable summers which have been endured in the UK in recent years because Vauxhall is launching a new soft top - the Cascada.
The UK has one of the world's biggest markets for roofless cars and Vauxhall says this is a full size, four seater with two doors and is obviously aimed at the Audi A5 Cabriolet.
The Cascada comes in two trim levels, the SE and Elite, both of which have pretty good spec levels.
Indeed, it's been priced to attract attention - by being a wallet-busting £8,000 cheaper than its rivals.
Among the line-up is a 1.4litre 134bhp turbo petrol engine that has a six speed manual gearbox and the firm's new 1.6 SIDI Turbo ECOTEC petrol engine.
The top spec Elite models cost £26,095 but then opt for the 2litre Bi-Turbo CDTi diesel and you'll be paying out £29,080 for the privilege.
They all have Vauxhall's hiPerStrut front suspension system which helps control torque steer.
To help sales move, Vauxhall is throwing in some generous finance deals as well as their 'Lifetime Warranty' which covers the life of the car - though I'd be checking the small print to see what is covered after three years or 100,000.
You can order one now for £23,995 though potential buyers should also check out the leasing options for a Vauxhall Cascada since these cars are prone to some hair-raising depreciation in the first few years.
The Cascada will be in our showrooms in April 2013.
