Are the automobiles of today overly complicated to a fault? Explain?
IMO - I wouldn't say they are over complicated to a fault. My definition there of 'fault' being too complicated for their own good. I just went to our states International Auto Expo and was blown away at the clean organization of the engines. Today's cars do more with less waste than ever before. Today's 4 cylinder was the 1970's V8 (well not really, but its getting there.)
The main fault I see with today's engines is that they are too complicated for OUR own good, meaning we as the common car owner can't pop the hood and replace our own spark plugs, drive train or whatever else.
Technology will get more and more advanced which, in the case of cars, is a good thing. More safety features and cleaner air quality is something we should all desire and cars will remain a part of our way of life for a long while.
The days where you could fix your own car engine are long gone but that is not a bad thing, we use many things these days that only specialists can fix. I don't need to know how a particular piece of technology works as long as I can contact someone who can fix it for me.
i think they are. due to computers, fixing even some minor problems can cause worse problems because you can mess up the computer. there are service engine lights that come on for reasons that sometimes even a mechanic can't explain. if you give someone a boost , it can cause a lot of damage to your system also.
Todays autos, in my opinion, offers the the average customer to much information and to many options. You no longer just get in your car and drive. The customer now can set everything to their specification, it's not a bad thing but sometimes a bit time consuming for the tech, customers want everything to work but don't want to even take the time to open the owners manual to find the information. Techs spend a lot of time just explaining systems to the customers, and that can eat away at your pay check. Technology is awesome and I love whats possible with the autos of today, I just wish customers would take the time to learn the systems for their own benefit.
Of course people will try to improve their standard of living...
The automobile will have lasting impacts on the earth:

I'm not even sure what that means. I have almost no links on anything, only 1 even has an amazon capsule, and I don't even know how to "keystuff" (it was listed on possible promotional items list). A friend told me maybe they think my content is generated by A.I. Well, it's not. I...

Do you think the film "Back to the Future" should be remade with today's technology?
