I have a 1997 dodge intrepid 3.5 and while driving it shut off. Before yesterday it was fine. It started to take a minute before shutting off when I take the key out and then yesterday it just went dead

Get it taken to a garage, so they can put on machine to see what is the problem, it could be anything really.. But i think Ignition problem.. Who knows

It could be a number of things. The most common cause of it shutting off like that is a bad alternator, but it could be anything from a faulty coil to the fuel pump.
Take it to a certified mechanic and have them test drive and run a diagnostic.
