Yes, I have a  few tips. One if you are not mechanically incline find someone who is and take them with you. Two go to the auction after lunch, most of the bidders are gone. Three Have a good ideal about  the car you want to purchase, make, model and year. When you purchase a vehicle take in consideration the real cost of the vehicle. How much will fuel cost, how much will it cost to  replace the tires, oil changes, engine failure. Any other question on this  particular subject either post them or e-mail me Lady_E

Lady E... the key is in the buying.  The cheaper you can get the car for, the more you can factor in the repairs should they need it.

Avoid any diesel with a particulat filter as these are really expensive if they go wrong.

Hope this helps a little, but the best tip of all is to have a good, honest, mechanic friend in the trade who can help.

If you are not really familiar what to look for in a car whether it is in good shape or not, you better have a more experienced mechanic accompany you. As much as possible attend auctions that would allow you to inspect the cars prior to the actual auction so you will have an idea on the money you will be willing to shell out for a given vehicle. This is not something that you gamble on. If you happen to place your money on the wrong car you may end up spending as much as you would pay for a brand new car.
