What do you remember about your first car?

People seems to have strong memories about their first car.  When I was little my parents carried our teepee on top of our Volkswagen van.  That van was cozy!  Inside, my mom had  covered the walls with paisley contact paper, and hung printed curtains..  (1970s)

I remember my first car because people would always ask to buy it.  I ived in Sacramento, CA at the time and my first car was a 1976 Olds Cutlass Supreme.  We couldn't go a week without someone pulling up next to us in traffic and asking to buy it.

Back when I lived in England, I remember my older brother selling me his 1978 Ford Escort Popular when he upgraded to an Escort Ghia.  I would had been 17 at the time and thought it was the best thing on wheels.  My brother knew what he was doing and lots of money later, I sold it off and "upgraded" to a Ford Cortina.  Wisdom copies from experience they say...

It was my grandmother's car. She hit so much in that car. I always worried for everyones safety. She also ran over my Razor scooter in the driveway in Florida. A really old vehicle that I drove many times over 80 m.p.h. in. I also met my partner in that car. He worked on it and told me it wasn't worth the effort but we got off well after that.

    Everything............

color, body style, performance, gas mileage,

the feel of the steering wheel, at my hand's command, buying her new " shoes"......( tires )

her engine, her purr,  the radio stations.........the time my younger sister drove her home, because, I had too much to drink.........and the patrolman, who let us get away with it!

her turn  signal  fluid, her back up grease

    the size of her tires

how many months of flipping burgers it took me to save up for her  cost

OH...............if I  could get her back today...............she would be among the great American classics..................

    Oh, yeah, I am a " car chick " !
