Have you ever gotten a speeding ticket?

If yes, what were you driving, how fast were you going, what was the posted speed, and did you get out of it?

Three.  I was driving a Ford Escort all three times.  First time was 60 in a 45, second was 45 in a 35, last one was 60 in a 45.  When I was pulled over the last time, I was arrested for driving on the license they had suspended when I failed to pay the first two tickets.  That was all when I was 19 years old.  Since then, I've been a little angel behind the wheel.  smile

OMG, you crack me up!  (Are you sure this happened when you were 19? LOL)   I'd hate to know what your insurance rate was.  How long in jail?

Good for you!   I cried when I got my first ticket (only got two).  I had a long, perfect record until then.

I've gotten several speeding tickets over the years.  My last one was on July 4th 2008.  It was a speed trap.  The posted speed limit was 25MPH.  The road was feeding into a major U.S. highway.  It didn't make sense to have a speed limit that low on this road.  I was going 45MPH (2006 Honda Civic EX).  20MPH over the posted speed limit is speeding and a wreckless driving charge as well.  The officer took mercy on me.  On the ticket, he stated the speed limit was 30MPH.  So, I escaped the wreckless driving charge.  My sister told me I could fight the ticket in court since the officer posted the wrong speed limit on the ticket.  But, I have never been one to look a gift horse in the mouth.  So, I just paid the ticket.  I had no desire to go to safety school for 8 hours.  Overall, I've had about 4 speeding tickets and one warning ticket.  Not bad for 40+ years of driving.

Thanks David.  My very first (of two) speeding tickets was a speed trap.  sad

I was caught by a speed camera doing 37 mph in a 30 mph area. Luckily, when the paperwork came through the post there was an administrative error - the location that was given was 50 miles from where the camera caught me, so I was let off.I

Wow, good for you.  It hardly seems to be a speeding issue-7 mph over the limit...

    Denise:

It has been quite some time since I had received any speeding tickets and hence I've been a good boy.  Although I still occasionally drive in excess of 65 to 75 MPH. But when I was about 22 I received three speeding tickets in one weeks time going about 75 in a 40MPH speed zone, driving a 1971 Red Mustang Fastback with a super charged 351 Cleveland engine.  Boy those were the days!  And don't have to ask...Yes my insurance was very high at that time!  Had a heavy foot and still do somewhat today, however it has gotten lighter over the years.  I guess it is something inbred in us New Yorkers, along with the occasional road rage thing, even though I try like heck to avoid those angry ones behind the wheel!.  ):

Love your answer and the history behind the tickets!  Drive safely, Jim.  smile

      Hi Denise:

Yes that was a bad week during that time period way back then.  But don't worry I have improved my driving skills tremendously since. Thanks to those defensive driving classes that you can now take online. Also saved about $32. Take care.

Unfortunately, I've got more than one, even though I've always felt some were unjustified. So, one day, after being pulled over for speeding, I asked to see the evidence and the cop told me he had already erased it, meaning I wasn't speeding in the first place. so, he only got me for not wearing my seat belt. Well, nobody's perfect !

Wow--asked to see the evidence?  I didn't realize a person could ask an officer on the spot for that.  Something I will remember and pass on (not that I'm planning to get another speeding ticket).  Thanks!

I got two speeding tickets three years ago driving my Scion XB.  One was for going 14 miles over the limit and one was for 19 miles over.  I know - I have a really bad lead foot.  Unfortunately I didn't get out of either ticket.  I learned my lesson though - I try to keep things only five miles over now ;p

Never had a speeding ticket. I've been pulled over 3 times in the past 6 years and not gotten a single ticket (ran a stop sign -slow and go-, 78 in a 65, and 39 in a 30).

Wow, that is amazing.  I've only gotten out of two...one I was new in town and the officer let me go.  The other, my dad had just died and we were heading for the hospital.
