    My first response is, never! Drive the car until it dies, then revive it and keep driving it until it dies again - repeat until the car quite literally falls apart. I bought a 92 Chevy as my first vehicle when I was 15 and I didn't get rid of it till I was 23. I loved that truck and I can't tell you how great it was not having a vehicle payment for 5 years. And the only reason I got rid of it was because my brother gave me his 2002 Ranger for free.

      thank you for your answer. I was wondering so yeah I think I will do as you suggested mainly because it makes sense but also because I dont have the money right now for a new car or a used care with fewer miles on it.

    I would say when you have to spend so much money on repairs, it would cost less to make those payments. Having to deal with frequent break-downs can be stressful.
