A Weekend of Family Fun and Delicious Food
The Coleman family, arrived at the #Hilton Garden Inn, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Friday evening. With tremendous anticipation, they would tryout for #Family Feud television series. When asked by the Executive Producer to share something interesting about the family, Chante Coleman, shared that they were relatives of the deceased #Bessie Coleman, who "became the first African American woman to stage a public flight in America." She was also "the first black woman to earn a pilot's license." Bessie's, photo is also featured in the #Wright Museum, located in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. "The United States Postal Service issued a Bessie Coleman stamp in honor of the great pilot." We were also fortunate enough to hear about a relative that older family members in the 1960's and 70's mentioned, Katherine Coleman Johnson. Her life story was featured in the #Academy nominated film, #Hidden Figures. We are proud to know that finally after all these years, her accomplishments were acknowledged.
Upon the Coleman family's arrival at the hotel, we were greeted with genuine hospitality by courteous staff members. Once they checked in and received keys to their rooms; the concierge informed them about numerous events occurring within Philadelphia. They were offered free hot coffee, buttered popcorn and a choice of various juices. This family arrived not only thirsty but a little famished.
Once the family unpacked, it was dinner time at The Tenth Floor Grill, within the hotel. This restaurant was "the perfect spot to unwind at the end of a busy day with cocktails." Carlos, was their attentive server. Luscious, palatable dishes were served such as Surf and Turf which consist of two succulent Lobster Tails, Filet Mignon with yummy grilled veggies. Lisa Palmer, prepared these mouthwatering meals as Head Chef. After dinner, they settled in their well-kept, cozy, accessible rooms. The next morning the Coleman family, returned to The Tenth Floor Grill for a tasty breakfast. They were greeted by gallant, smiling waiters such as Reggie, who has been employed there for more than thirteen years. He directed them to a pure feast that consist of spinach omelets, mixed with a various peppers, onions and mushrooms prepared fresh by Chef Abdullah. Hot waffles, a variety of sausages, cinnamon rolls, grits, home fries as well as a variety of drinks to choose from.
The Garden Inn, downtown Philadelphia is perfectly located for tourist purposes. It is in the midst of Pa Convention Center, China Town, Reading Terminal and numerous other outstanding restaurants as well as other activities.
The Coleman family, discovered that #Restaurant Week, was about to conclude. It was entitled, Dine In High Def. Various restaurants in and around downtown Philadelphia served three courses during lunch for $20 and three courses during dinner for $35. There was a high demand for Restaurant Week. Within the flyer for this event was this statement, "Reservations are in great demand. If you can't keep yours for any reason please let your restaurant know so another party can be seated. Thank you."
Five star restaurants participated in this culinary adventure. #Abe Fisher, with delectable four course dishes like Duck Charcuterie, Potato soup, Roasted Hungarian Duck and a selection of desserts. This restaurant is also well known for a Jerusalem Artichoke Caesar, which includes snow peas, radish, pickled onions, pine nuts and pecorino. A four and a half star restaurant by the name of Alma De Cuba, was booked more than thirty-eight times during Restaurant Week. Their menu consist of Diver Sea Scallops, Thai Ceviche and Sangria Blanco as one of their specialty drinks. Five star restaurant A. Kitchen, serves contemporary American. The setting is casual elegant with such delectable dishes as Sweet Amalia Oysters, Marinated Mussels and Fried Pickles. Some residents in Philly expressed such words concerning Restaurant Week as, "worth the money, amazing and a culinary gem."
The #Philadelphia Auto Show, was held at the Pa Convention Center across from Hilton Garden Inn. A previous guest explained how this particular hotel's "location, location, location," is absolutely perfect for the needs of a tourist. The Coleman Family appreciated that they could walk to the auto show from the hotel. Cars were featured from classics to modern versions. A variety of automobiles such as BMW M2 Coupe, 2017 Ford Esape, Mercedes Benz, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, 1913 SGV classic car, customized and exotic cars. A Black Tie Tailgate was sponsored on Friday. Attendees wore dazzling evening wear and raised more than $500,000 for the Division of Neurology at #CHOP or The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. John Beuerle, gave the auto show five stars as he went on to say, "One of the best and most expansive show around!" A young man named Walter stated, "This show is outstanding. I love all the amazing cars. I enjoy coming with my dad every year."
Philadelphia, Voted "Best place to visit in America"
Rick Williams, of channel 6 abc #Action News revealed that a travel guide company entitled Lonely Planet, "saluted our city's history and future in the top ten list of US places to host tourist. Lonely Planet, called Philadelphia a national treasure that carry out a diverse, growing restaurant scene. Younger residents can live here because our great city is affordable."
Auditions For Family Feud Were Held In Philadelphia at the Convention Center
The Coleman Family, was able to audition for Family Feud, along with numerous other families at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. They played the game well and even met the producer. The results of their tryout was decided by the executive producer and her staff. Even if they were not chosen, it was a privilege to see so many families united and playing together. The Coleman family had the grand opportunity to spend time together as a family during a spectacular weekend in Philadelphia.
Another major future event was #The 2016 Philadelphia Flower Show. Its theme was National Parks Service. It was held at the Pa Convention Center, downtown Philadelphia, March 5th - 13th, 2016. A television commercial mentioned that #The Flower Show, "will explore America through our countries' national parks." The Flower Show, had something for everyone. Visitors that attended were amazed at the displays of beautiful flowers. One visitor explained, "it was the best flower show I have ever attended." These were just a few of the spectacular events families experienced during their visit to Philadelphia.
