Be Your Own Boss the Scentsy Way!
I recently interviewed my daughter-in-law about the home based business she has built through the company called Scentsy. Scentsy provides a wonderful and reasonably priced product in the scented, wickless candles and candle holders they sell. She has been a distributor, or a "Superstar Consultant" for quite some time, and would like to expand her business even more than she has. She is currently looking for sales people to join her team and work for her, and she would love to hear from anyone interested in starting their own home business! Please read the following interview for more information about this wonderful home based business!
1. How long have you been a Distributor for Scentsy, and what is your title with the company?
April: My title with Scentsy is currently "Superstar Consultant" The title itself reflects the level a consultant is at within the organization. I have been with Scentsy for about a year now.
2. Are you part-time or full-time, and can this feasibly be a full-time job if one wishes?
April: Well, in regard to the hours I put in, it would be considered part-time. However, that is the great thing about Scentsy! You can generate a substantial income without going into work from 8 to 5 everyday. I do currently work another part-time job which I love, but Scentsy is quickly becoming my main source of income. We are expecting our third child, and by the time the baby is born, I expect Scentsy to be my sole career. It's the perfect Mommy job!
3. Explain to us how the business is set up (home-based business, internet based, word of mouth?).
April: There are several ways to gain clients, and a good consultant takes advantage of them all. Home parties can be great, but many customers would prefer ordering from a basket party (the hostess takes a basket filled with product sample to work or to their friends, and family) or a catalog party. Still others go online to my website, and order directly from there. Whatever the customer prefers-that what we do.
4. Does it cost anything to get set up? If so, how much?
April: The kit to get started costs $99.00, and includes everything a consultant needs to hit the ground selling! I've seen, several times in fact, a hostess more than pay for the cost of their kit with the commission earned from their first party!
5. What kind of income can you expect to make starting out? What is the average income part-time? Full-time?
April: A Scentsy Consultant starts out at 20% commission, then once they hit $1,000.00 in sales, they move to 25% and never move back down. As for income, well, a Consultant can make whatever they choose to. Enough to cover a car payment, a mortgage, and even replace your current income!
6. Are you able to sell on the internet, such as Ebay or a website?
April: Ebay and other online auctions are not allowed.
7. How do you recruit other consultants to sell under you, and how is that profitable for you?
April: The product sells itself, and the opportunity does as well, Every single conversation I have had about someone joining my team has been a result of them approaching me with an interest in the business! Adding team members does benefit the sales person, as the more people you get on your team and the more revenue they provide, the more the consultant makes. You get bonuses off their sales as well as the team's sales.
8. To wrap this up, tell us what attracted you to Scentsy in the first place.
April: To be able to drop off and pick up my kids from school every single day and still be able to pay my bills. That's it. I will achieve this goal in the near future, but the opportunity with Scentsy is so huge, I have to keep plugging away. Keep in mind, Scentsy is still a relatively young company. Anyone who has the desire to go do something great, while still being able to have a family, should jump in now! Those interested can visit my website: https://aprillane.scentsy.us/home.
