CROOK ALERT--WALMART SETTLES FOR $352 Million

Walmart Settles for $352 Million

Walmart settled wage and hour suits for $352 million in advance of Obama crackdown. Walmart stratagems for cheating its employees included "forcing employees to work unpaid off the clock, ERASING HOURS FROM THEIR TIME CARDS, and preventing workers from taking lunch and other breaks that were either promised by the company or guaranteed by state laws."

Walmart also was accused of locking employees in after closing hours forcing employees to stay without pay until the merchandise was straightened up and ready for the next day. Walmart has also been cited numerous times for illegal anti-union actions. It is the biggest buyer in the U.S. of goods produced in China by abysmally paid workers working long hours in unsafe, polluting factories.

Good hub, Ralph. Unfortunately, $352 million is loose change for Walmart. It probably feels like a mosquito bite to them, but they don't get bitten often. They need to get spanked until they say "uncle" and "We'll never do it again."
