I have sites open on many different servers.  My sites on other servers don’t even pick up on the google search results.  My site at currently rank 4th and 5th position.  My squidoo site has almost no content, and is just used for a run around to my other sites.  Well the squidoo lens is currently 2nd position on google’s first hundred search results.  Not even my site at google itself, can I get above the 4th position.

Well, my hubpages is even worse. Only one of my hubs picks up in the first 100 results, and that is somewhere at position 40 to 50. To me, my only reason for using hubpages above squidoo, is for the ease of use and that hubland is like a community where you can move in, unpack, and stay for a while. You build a followers list, and over the long run, this will count to your advantage.

I have found that with some tedious work and optimization, it is most surely possible to get your hub pages up there with the rest in the google top positions.  The best way is trial by error.  Follow the guidelines, give google some time to crawl your new changes and then do a test again in the google search engine.  Your placement will climb, as you keep on adjusting your hubs for google.

1. Metatags: This story is being over played too much by seo people and software. Google ignores metatags.

2. Content: Also not the full make up of how google picks up a site for the top 10 positions.

  1. Google place high value on your heading one (page name), heading two (subtitle) and any other headings. Choose your headings wisely.
  2. Google search for snippets, usually the first few words in your main content. Use your first paragraph wisely.  Use phrases of your search criteria here.
  3. Pictures that are named correctly can also drive traffic to your site.  Google index picture alt tags.
  4. Videos that are named correctly, pertaining to the search criteria, will also boost your position in google.
  5. Back links: This is useful for those servers that I mentioned that google doesn’t even want to pick up.  The thing is to use back links or inbound links that already has a high google ranking.

  1. First decide on what search criteria the lens must pick up in google.
  2. Then create a lens with the search words in the lens name.
  3. Then copy those exact words in your sub heading.
  4. Before any text in your lens, insert a paragraph containing again all those words and add some more. But also try to use 2 and 3 word strings.
  5. Lastly, copy the precise page name into your meta tag or tags list. And then add some more words.
  6. It will also be helpful to use your exact page name somewhere in your content paragraph, thus increasing your search word density.  For example; if your search keywords should be "top google position", then you should use those words often in your body text, in sentences.  Like I am at present in the top ten google search page position.
  7. Tip: have a look at your search word cluster in google, note the strings that are being used by the first 4 sites. This will give you direction on how to get up there with them.

Hope this information was helpful….

I did Squiddo for about 4 months. After making on 18 cents a month, I went elsewhere. I like Hubpages so much better and made a few dollars my first month.

yes..I agree...I'm also in the process of moving my other sites to hubpages..not because I make any money..but because I figured out the easy trick to get top positions in google search engine...which means a lot of outside traffic for me..and the word gets spread better...

Hi yes..this hub explained most of should get a heck of a lot high ranking backlinks to your site..any links below a google page rank of 5 would do you no good..go for the pr 7,8 and 9....

Make your headings stand out..and use caps lock for headings as well as bold face...

Content...the more worthwhile your content the more search criteria will be picked up by google and traffic sent your way..

Submit your site to rss feeds..

Do not use "black hat", you will be penalized by google and removed from their index..

Hope this helps.. :)
