Do you love gingerbread and other sweet treats? If you have a soft spot in your heart for gingerbread houses or if you have a sweet tooth that just loves high quality brownies, cookies, muffins and more, you’ll really be excited to discover The Gingerbread Construction Company.

About the Gingerbread Construction Company

The name of the Gingerbread Construction Company doesn’t thoroughly describe this interesting Massachusetts-based bakery. When the company first opened, it did – but the company’s product line has expanded far beyond the gingerbread houses and gingerbread cookies the owners began with. To understand, you have to know a little bit about the company’s history.

In 1981, married couple John and Janet D'Orsi began making gingerbread houses and cookies as a hobby. The pair enjoyed what they were doing so much that they began to sell their sweet goodies at craft shows throughout the New England region. Their products sold very well and became quite popular. After six years of marketing through craft shows, the D'Orsis decided to open a retail store. They opened their first store in Winchester in 1987, at which time they decided to expand their line beyond seasonal gingerbread items to include cookies and muffins.

Over time, additional items were added to the line as well as a second retail store. The second location opened in Wakefield in 2005. The company also added an online store, making it possible for customers anywhere in the U.S. to order goodies from the Gingerbread Construction Company.

Tasty Treats from the Gingerbread Construction Company

The Gingerbread Construction Company sent me several items to try and review, a task I was quite happy to accommodate. I had an opportunity to sample one of the muffin loaves, a gingerbread cookie and a selection of various flavors of gourmet cookies. The items were properly packaged and arrived in perfect condition and each item tasted absolutely wonderful. I would order from the company again – both when shopping for myself and when purchasing gifts for other people.

The items I tried don’t represent the complete product line. The company also carries biscotti, brownies, muffins and – or course – gingerbread houses. The gingerbread houses can be ordered in several options, ranging from complete finished houses to assembled houses ready for you to decorate yourself. The ready-to-assemble houses are a great gift idea for families with elementary school-age children.
