Finding Interesting Topics to Make Money with Article Marketing

Updated on July 14, 2010

Article marketing is a very effective type of advertising whereby a business writes articles related to what it is selling.  Each of these articles has a bio box that includes contact information.  Article marketing is all about writing articles to explain about what you are selling and to advertise the same so that people can follow the link provided to go to your landing page.  The link is found in a bio box and the quality of your article will determine how many hits you will get.  Articles written are posted on article directories such as Ezine.com which have a large audience.  However, many articles are rejected each day for failure to meet the set rules.  It is therefore important that you know what causes article rejection to avoid wasting a lot of time and energy rewriting.

To make money with article marketing, you should research on popular search terms that are listed on the most commonly used search sites such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo!.  If you go for multi-terms, the small number of people who click on them may have the intention of buying while narrow search terms means the large number of people who click on them are just browsing or searching for something specific.  You should note that copying someone’s work is not only wrong, it is illegal and it might land you into trouble.  When writing your work using a reference, you must give credit to the original writer within your content.  If you want to write original work and you have researched elsewhere, use plagiarism detection software – some of these are free of charge.

To prevent rejection, you must follow the word limits given by the publishers.  Most publishers prefer articles that are between 500 and 750 words.  To get a feel of what the market wants, do research by asking for comments from family, friends, and your readers if you are already published.

You can use tools such as Google Trends from Google Labs to come up with the best keyword for your topics.  Knowing the industry will make you realize that focusing on the data that keyword tools generate is not enough because the market is dynamic.  You will also understand the industry lingo and use it to attract clients who will see you as an expert in the field.  Other requirements are that you must have a resource box which should include your name, your website, and a call to action and that you should not have affiliate URLs in the body of your article.  Your work must not have spelling and grammatical errors.  Another great source of topics is the news and the advantages of this source are that it is free, it is current, and the news stories are already thoroughly researched.
