I have been successfully selling on amazon.co.uk for a number of years now. It is easy elling online goods and setting this process up... you jus list you items via a data entry sequence and get paid.
Amazon does everything for you. You just await a ‘sold – dispatch now’ e-mail, check your account, print the dispatch note, pack the item, send and, by the click of a button, let the automated shipping service let the buyer know that their item is on its way! Easy! Then, every two weeks, your money is transferred into your designated bank account.

Pro-merchant or not to Pro-merchant, that is the question?
There are two types of sellers on Amazon. Individuals that sell on an adhoc basis. Amazon terms this as an individual seller. This means an item is listed and if it sells, you get charged a flat fee of 86p. There is no charge to list.
You only get charged when your item sells. It is ‘commitment free’ without hassle. If you would like to do this, just click on 'sell your stuff' button.
The second is by becoming a pro-merchant. This is where you pay a subscription fee, once every four weeks and a smaller percentage fee per item. This is normally cost effective if you sell more than 40 items a month. There will be a link advertising this when you click the 'sell your stuff' button. The phrase you need to find is 'Pro-Merchant Account'.
There are benefits to joining the pro-merchant program. You can upload bulk items, keep track of the competition, download reports and create product pages.

Start Selling - be Quick!
Firstly, you must have set up an account on Amazon in the first place. This would probably be as an existing customer. Amazon will guide you through the setting up process.
In order to register, you will need to provide the following information:
- Credit card
- Telephone number
- Bank account information (we accept UK, French, German or Austrian bank accounts)
- VAT number, if your company is VAT registered.
- E-mail address
This is easy and you should allow the process to guide you through. This would mainly be your bank details for where you wish the selling money to be placed and the name of your store.
Listing your item is easy….
Locate the item you'd like to sell
Select product category:
Search by title or keyword(s):
Search by ISBN, UPC, or ASIN:
When listing an item you have two options. Option 1 means you can scroll down the ‘select product category’ and use the search by title or keyword space. Then press ‘Start selling’ button. This will come up with various products that might match. You then scroll down and choose the product that matches the one you have on sale. Or option 2, would let you search your item directly. If you see a barcode on your item, try putting the numbers in this box then press the ‘Start selling’ button.
Now onto the product listing page... This is pretty well self explanatory...

You are now on the way to posting your listing on marketplace
Firstly, the product and picture is shown on the listing page. You then choose the condition of this item. Be as truthful as you can, if anything try and under rate this. This is so you will be sure that the buyer will be pleasantly surprised on its receipt and you will receive good feedback. This will inspire confidence for future buyers.
Secondly, add additional notes to the item you are selling. Try and describe the item as accurately as possible. An example of this would be ‘DVD has sticker mark to sleeve, otherwise, like new’.
The next page highlights the price you wish to charge. Remember, you might have a lot of competition, so try and be competitive in this field. Amazon will highlight the lowest market price, so you can price yours accordingly.
You then enter the quantity in the field marked ‘Quantity’. Then there is a dot marker for you to choose whether you want to ship ‘Domestic’ (meaning Nationally),‘Domestic and within Europe’, ‘Domestic, within Europe and the United States’ and ‘Domestic, European, US and International’. Each has criteria for times of delivery.
It is very important that delivery times are adhered to. Quick deliveries give good feedback. This is good for you and Amazon. The quicker the buyer gets the item, the happier he is!
Review, Sell Your Product and Submit Your Listing!
The next sequence in this process is the ‘review, sell your product and submit page’. It summarises how much you will get when the item sells, postage costs and how much you will be charged in fees. Click the ‘Submit your listing’ button and you are done!
You can keep track of your listings in ‘Your seller account’ and watch your feedback ratings. Feedback really helps buyers make an informed choice as to whom they will purchase the item they want from, so is an important feature. You really need to act upon query potential buyers quickly. This is about good customer service and keeping on top of the competition.
