How to Demonstrate Your Value for a Raise

How to Demonstrate Your Value for a Raise

How to Demonstrate Your Value for a Raise

one of the most effective ways to get a raise is not having to ask for one. If your employer sees that you demonstrate company quality. You are a great worker. You mind your own business, no office chatter, you dress for success, you do extra work when needed, and put in extra work hours when needed, then you show you are a valuable asset. The harder you work, the more valuable you have become to your company.

Remember you have to have qualifications for a raise !

Every business has it's own way of doing things. The rules written and unwritten - know your company's rules. Know the look and dress code of your company. If your company wears formal dark suites, then don't show up in jeans and a T shirt. Unless your company has casual dress code on Fridays.

Know that some company's hate to fire people. While others will fire you on the spot, for no good reason what so ever. Don't give your company a reason to fire you. Always dress to your company's policy.

To succeed in your company, know your company's culture. This is true with any job you have, now or in the future.

Know how things are done where you work. Know how mistakes are tolerated in your company. Always have your eyes and ears open. Remember, do not spread company gossip. This is not acceptable behavior.

Don't complain to others in your company. Always remember some employers follow social net working sites. Beware don't post anything negative on your site about your Boss. Don't tweet on twitter anything negative either. This could be grounds for you being fired.

Be a hard worker. Be a valuable worker. Become a company asset. Be dependable. Learn new skills and trades. Be a leader.

If you demonstrate quality skills , you will get a raise in record time. Never call off work, unless you are sick or theres and emergency. This is noticed by your employer. If you take off work often, non emergency related, this is frowned upon by your employer. If your Boss goes comes to work everyday, so should you.

There could be a lot of competition for a raise. Know that before asking for one. Know that and be prepared. Times are hard and having a job sometimes , is a benefit in itself.

Remember. There may be other jobs you could do for your Boss. Offer to help out if needed. Freelance work just might be your ticket. If you can't get a raise, maybe you could freelance to make extra money.

Finally if you don't ask. You don't receive. Show your company you are a valuable asset. Then you will get that raise you deserve, now or in the future.

This is a great report and much needed given the times of cut backs, down sizing and people expected to do more with less in the work force. It's vital to realize your power to earn more money if your one of the valued to be positioned to fill these important roles. Well done! :) Katie

Thanks for the tips. Ultimately you will never be paid what you are worth unless you work for yourself because the company has to make money. That said, these tips are helpful in getting the most you can get. Thanks for sharing them.

Rhonda, good sound advice. I've always said you will go far as long as you are where you should be, doing what you should be doing, and looking the way you should look.

Hi KoffeeKlatch Gals thanks for your comment. I couldn't agree more with you, you are right. Great advice, and is so true. Today people do judge a book by its cover, so to speak. Look the part act the part and you just might get the apart. Thanks for dropping by today. Your comment is always appreciated.

Have a great day.
