During my Executive Coaching and Career Development sessions, I am often asked to advice about how to deal with stagnation in career; lack of growth opportunities.

At one time or other we all have faced or are facing a situation when the career does not excite us. There is no charm in the job. The work is so monotonous. The office environment sucks. The work culture is disappointing. Perhaps the feeling about the colleagues could range from they being boring to being uncooperative.

Under these circumstances, one has to options – one to do nothing about and continue to bear the drudgery of work. The second option is to stop slogging. To change and alter the unacceptable to a stage where you love your work and the career looks promising. To put yourself on the growth track you shall have to take certain decision, plan a course of action and stitch to it sincerely.

Change the changeable, accept the unchangeable, and remove yourself from the unacceptable. - Denis Waitley

Here are some simple suggestions which made difference in the career graph of so many people I know and you can try them too.

Beat the negativity out, usher in positive thoughts

Look at your environment as the graduate land course and near the exam time. Try to recall the pressure you went through to learn the subjects, complete the assignments, prepare for the exams - so that you could get good grades. At that time not all the conditions were favorable nor hostile. Some classmates were friendly and some were deadly competitive. A few teachers were very helpful while some indifferent.

Yet you made it!

So encash the positivity & bypass what is not good for you or stay clear and off the negativities.

Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow. - Helen Keller

Inspirational Quotes for Great Career Success

Tell yourself, “It is OK. Things are improving”

Man constantly wants growth, challenges and rewards. We live in a society where materialism is the order of the day. “I must person more - better and bigger than the other person” is what motivates most of us. Naturally when the expectations and achievements don’t match there are anguish caused by disappointments and hurt feelings, especially amongst the working professions.

So begin with accepting the situation and then proceed to find a way out with a cool mind. Neither under estimate your capabilities nor over estimate yourself – just be realistic. Be focused on your goals, with persistence and intelligence you will find one way or other.

You are capable of much more than you are presently thinking, imagining, doing or being. - Myles Munro

Be yourself, don’t copy anyone, choose your own path

Imagine how awfully boring the life would be if the career paths in each domain / industry would be exactly the same way – year after year, generation after generation. So it is OK for you to be different. It is OK to have your own pace and path to success. Why not celebrate your creativity & individually for you are the only piece on this earth.

Would you still feel jealous or envious of a person who achieved something 2 years earlier than you? May be with a new orientation now you shall surprise everyone with an amazing set of achievements in your career.

Why Worry? If you've done the very best you can, worrying won't make it any better. - Walt Disney
