For those of you who are skeptical about earning an income by selling Mary Kay Cosmetics, let me assure you, I personally know someone who lives in a tini tiny town in an equally tiny state who has become a Mary Kay millionaire. Step One: Spend $25 for the Mary Kay Personal Website
Occasionally Mary Kay offers a special half-price start-up kit for $50.00 which has everything you need to get your business off the ground, including over $400 in retail product. Otherwise, the kit is $100. If you read your "welcome" email and followed the instructions, you went to the marykayintouch.com website for new consultants and signed up for a personal website for $25, and from which your friends and family can place orders. You need to generate $200 in retail orders to place your first wholesale order in order to become "qualified". Once qualified, you can start building your downline and purchase inventory at 50% off retail.
On the other hand, if you want to become a consultant, but cannot afford the kit that is now $100 and don't want to wait for the next 50% off the kit special, plus another $200 to qualify, this article has a technique you can use to help you reach that goal for only $25.
Step Two: Generate Orders Around the Compact Mini
The Mary Kay Compact mini retails for $16, or $8 your cost. The mini is useless unless it is filled with Mary Kay product. So, naturally everyone is going to need to purchase the items that fit in the compact. For instance, each mineral eye shadow that fits in the compact is $6.50 retail. The compact can hold up to six colors. But most people will purchase three eye colors, to contour. The fourth space is either for blush or powder which retail for $10. The mini has a place underneath for two eye makeup applicators $2.50 and a compact powder brush $4. Total sales on the free mini: $36.00.

If you are lucky enough to find a generous Mary Kay consultant who will pay for your kit, by all means let her sign you up! Then you only need to spend $25 for the website to use this technique.
As soon as you have your website, post a message on your Facebook page that says something like this:
"Hey everyone! I just signed up to become a Mary Kay beauty consultant and I'm excited! No, I am not going to pester you to have a party for me! Instead I am going to let you Invite your girlfriends to register and hold an online Mary Kay party at www.marykay.com (your name) and receive this mini compact (unfilled) as my gift to you. Plus I will give you 10, 20 or 25% off any products you wish to purchase based on any online party bookings your friends sign up for: 10% no bookings, 20% two bookings, 25% four bookings. Everyone that books gets a compact! Let's talk!"
When someone contacts you, tell them to email you the names of the people who will be participating in the online party (by registering on your website) so you can be sure to give her the credit for any sales.
That's it! You don't have to get dressed, drive anywhere, or make any presentations. Your Mary Kay website will do all the work for you.
Step 3: Place Your Qualifying Order!
Now $36.00 doesn't sound like a lot of money, but remember, your friend has invited a couple of her friends which she hopes will order a lot of products and book online parties so she can receive the 25% credit. The friends do not receive any discount but you can bet they want that little compact mini for free, so they are gonna sign up for an online party too. And they will probably order at least $36.00 to fill the mini that they will get when they hold their party.
So, let's speculate a little bit and say that your friend invited 4 of her friends to participate in the online party. Each purchased at least $36 to fill their compact mini. $36 x 5 = $180. You purchase product for half price, so your profit is $90.00 on party purchases, less $8 for the free mini. Your profit from one party is $82.00 less any discount. If each of the 4 hold a party that is $82 x 4 = $328.00 less any discounts.
Another idea: Offer a free compact mini to anyone who spends $40 on your website. They will probably purchase the mineral eye shadows and blush/powder to fill the mini.
As you can see, with only one or two online Mary Kay parties, you can generate enough income to place your first qualifying order.
Once you are generating a nice cash flow, you can offer one of the larger compacts as a free gift. These compacts hold many more items, such as lipstick, gloss, eyeliner, lipliner, etc. and, of course, everyone will need to purchase these items to fill their free compact.
Imagine the possibilities.
