Improving your psychic abilities
Over a period of time I have developed the desire to improve my psychic abilities. I would love to be able to see spirit as there are people who I would like to still communicate with. If I could pass messages on to others that would be a bonus. After reading a myriad of literature I have found the following suggestions to be deemed the most useful for anyone trying to increase their psychic awareness. Almost every book I have read also states that everyone has psychic abilities waiting to be developed. Some well known and very gifted spirit mediums have had these abilities for as long as they can remember. Apparently as young children our abilities are with us but as we age we tend to lose them.
Meditation is a must it seems. If possible meditate every day for around thirty minutes. Most people sit with their spine erect to help with energy flow. It isn't necessary to sit in the lotus position. You can sit in a comfortable chair. The idea is to clear your mind, which is quite difficult and takes practice. Playing spiritual music quietly while meditating can be helpful as well as lighting a candle. Meditation can also help you to be more intuitive and to trust your intuition. If thirty minutes a day is not always possible even a few minutes can be beneficial, or as I read recently ten to fifteen minutes is enough and much easier to include in your day.
Keeping a dream journal is another way to develop our psychic visioning. To help remember your dreams when you wake up try to recall as much of your dream as you can without moving first. If you wake in the night after dreaming record your dream then, because although you can remember vividly at the time you may forget it by the morning. As you train yourself to remember more and more of your dreams your psychic awareness will increase.
Training Your Senses
To attune to unseen energy we need to train our senses.
Sight - take notice of everything around you. When you go out try to notice detail. Don't miss anything. When you are performing a task of any kind pay attention to everything you are doing. If you are washing the dishes, notice the soap bubbles and the water sliding off the dishes. Try to see as much as you can and refrain from going off into a dream world. To improve your peripheral vision is just a matter of asking yourself what is to my left and what is to my right and look each way without moving your head. Do this whenever you think of it. It's amazing how quickly you start to notice more things out of the side vision.
Hearing - train your ears to hear. When out of doors listen to all the sounds around you like birds chirping, cars in the distance, dogs barking. Concentrate on a distant sound and try and increase its volume or pull the sound toward yourself. Notice the different sounds in your house or place of work. Paying attention to all the sounds around you helps you to notice things that you would normally not even realize were background noises.
Touch - touch various things and think about what they feel like. You can go outside and touch leaves, shrubs and trees. Try blindfolding your self and touching things so as to remove the sight sense and rely completely on touch. Also be aware of how the wind feels on your body and face when outdoors or the sun.
Taste - taste a variety of foods. Again using a blindfold can enhance the experiment. Adding ear plugs can also change your experience.
Smell - notice all the smells around you. Sometimes these are obvious but other times you need to take notice, especially when out walking. There can be many different smells from flowers to food cooking, animals. See how many different smells you can sense.
When we continually ask more of our senses we start to notice more of what is around us and gradually increase our psychic awareness.
Looking at Auras
Ask a friend to sit in front of a light coloured wall and gaze above their head slightly. You need to relax your body and mind as much as possible and keep looking until you see an imaging around their head or body. Sometimes colour will appear. I like to do this by looking at myself in a mirror. At least I can get myself to cooperate.
One day when I decided to look for my aura in the mirror I just kept staring into my eyes and I noticed my face changing and I also felt and or saw my body moving slightly. I felt a little scared that first time and decided I should stop. Then some time later I read about doing this. It was suggested to sit in front of a mirror with a candle going in a darkened room. It also said you would start to see other images moving over your face. You have to try not to blink too much or you lose the image. Some faces look male, others female, or older. Some look kind of familiar too.
All these things take time and it is a matter of trying to fit some of them into your daily routine. The taking notice of everything around you of course can be done anytime throughout your day. The big thing is remembering to do it. An idea I heard recently was if you are trying to start a new habit try painting one of your fingernails. Every time you notice the fingernail you are reminded of what it is you wish to practice doing.
Spending as much quiet time as you can with yourself is a big plus in developing your psychic abilities and awareness.Just looking at your surroundings and noticing whatever is going on in nature and your environment will open up your senses and help you connect to other worlds.
