Government Shutdown

Updated on April 8, 2011

Government Shutdown

Theres been a lot of talk going on in the mainstream media about the government being shut down. Now a lot of people fear the words SHUT DOWN! Its not as bad as it sounds but here are some things that Washington is looking to cut temporarily. If you were looking to visit the Smithsonian Institution, its on the list for the chopping block, also National zoo's, and Yellow Stone park are on the list to be closed down. Also the IRS will stop issuing refund checks, now that will cause some financial woes with the economy already suffering.

There has been a tug a war debate between the Republicans and Democrats and still no clarity if the Government will really close, leaving us all clueless and worried about our future. How ever the Obama administration have been researching the Government shut down that happened in the 90's, to find some kind of survival guide to aide us in this event. Now every one wants to point the finger at someone to blame for the Government shut down, in my opinion this is not a time for blame, there is way to much wasted energy going into that topic, they need to focus on the problem and stop getting sidetracked with the BS.

On a positive note with any shut down occurring, the Government does not completely SHUT DOWN, the lights in The White House are not being turned off. Another positive, activity that is key for our Nations Security is not at risk, military operations will continue, air traffic control and other public safety will be exempt from shutting down. Unfortunetly our environment may suffer a bit due to this shut down. During the Government shutdown of the 90s, toxic waste sites halted and environmental protection agency officials could not monitor clean up and contractors were not paid.

Well with all this negative talk in the media about the government shutdown, I choose to stay positive. If the Government does shut down we as Americans have a wonderful way of pulling together and helping each other through tough times. So if your relatives are hitting you up for money and you've been blessed with wealth make sure you spread it around keep the economy going even if just one person. And if your not wealthy a wise person once said "If you have much, give your wealth; If you have little, give of your heart :)
