List of POLO– Philippine Overseas Labor Office Embassy and Consulate

Updated List of POLO Offices by Country Worldwide

The POLO in each country, embassy or consulate offices of the Philippines facilitates OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) with their working permits, documents, requirements, verifications, and all matters concerning labor and manpower authority in the foreign country and the Philippines. POLO is a wing of DOLE just like POEA and OWWA but it is based in the foreign countries accepting the OFWs.

If you want to work in Canada, your papers will be passing by the POLO (Philippine Overseas Labor Office) there the same way when you gather permits in Saudi, Malaysia, Dubai and other countries. OFWs who are under direct hiring are very much familiar with this than those who use agencies and accredited recruitment agencies in the Philippines.

The list from the POEA website currently does not include POLO in Germany perhaps there isn't one right now. You can however contact the Embassy of Germany in Manila at 25/F Tower 2, RCBC Plaza

6819 Ayala Ave (cor Sen. Gil Puyat Ave), Makati City. The complete contact details for the embassy is at this page http://www.manila.diplo.de/Vertretung/manila/en/03...

Hi ms.25,

I thanked God I found this helpful and informative page. Ms. 25 i need your advice regarding the employment contract from my German employer. I was hired directly through internet as a QC and Sewing technician at the same time. I’ve been already in Shanghai China last November 21,2012 up to December 07,2012 for business negotiation and quality matters. Before I depart to Shanghai I remind my German employer about the employment contract, for me to seek the legalities of an OFW status.

My employer emailed me this.” I’m currently preparing your contact. We can't issue a employment contact at this time due to:

with our German office a lengthy process is needed and your salary will be subject to German government taxes, which are quite steep.- we have not yet established a Chinese office

-with one of our cooperation partners is difficult to as Chinese authorities are quite strict + will ask you to pay 30% tax.

Therefore we suggest the alternative that you act as a freelancing consultant, based in the Philippines, whom we contract. That also means you have to issue us an invoice for each salary,

Now named consultancy fee, as well as an invoice for all the other expenses. Meaning the invoice has to come from you and not individual bills as last time. The bills are ok as an attachment.

Please reconfirm the address you are based for this type of contact.

Viele Grüße/best regards”…

My employer is pretty good and trustworthy my problem is..I don’t know and I have no idea about the freelancing consultant with regards to registration process in POEA.I want to be a documented OFW.

Please give me advise how and what are the process and procedure for a freelancing consultant.

Your quick response is highly appreciated.

More power to you

That is very complex. I suggest you look for a very good and reputable agency here in the Philippines to do the processing for your work and the POEA stuff. At least they are familiar with all points including the freelancing consultant thing. Happy New Year and good luck :)

I need advise about direct hiring or being name listed. I'm presently working in Bahrain and will be ending my contract soon, then I got hired directly in a country were there is no Phil. consulate near it. Is it ok if I process my papers here in our embassy in Bahrain to be name listed if for example I could get all the requirements like work visas and contract so I can change my status as an OFW in my new employment? I was planning to do this to avoid the hassles of paper work back home. Hope to get a response ASAP, Thanks!

What is POLO?

should a direct hiring employer from canada should be a poea registered?

twentyfive profile image

twentyfive 2 years ago Author

The employer doesn't need to be registered in the POEA in direct hiring, the documents and permits are done by the employee. Under Name Hire rule, there is a limit of 10 employees allowed for direct hiring. If the employer exceeded that number, the employer must use an agency accredited by the POEA to hire more workers.

good day,

I would like to ask, if i need to process my POLO? I was direct hired in Essex England as nanny and the processing my documents right now was the agency in london, every now and then i am communicating my employer. As per discussion, they will be the one to process all my documents needed, once done they will send it here in the Philippines thru British embassy. and the embassy will call me for the releasing. My plane ticket will also be send by me employer.

Please need your help, since on my part I'm a little bit confused.

Hello mam! i would like to ask concerning my sister's case. she has been hired directly by a company in Beijing as senior consultant in a company. she has already gotten her work visa from the Chinese embassy about 12 days ago. unfortunately she was not able to get OEC due to her contract which the POEA said has to be authenticated and verified. By whom? or which department or so? And since this is the first time for this company in beijing to hire filipino so tey are not aware about this thing. today i head the same case of two teachers who is alsp securing for OEC and were ask the same requirement-to have their contract verified and authenticated by POLO. and i have read n this article that the authentication of contract should be done in the country of destination (job site) where there is POLO. problem is the list of polo around the world there is no CHINA. SO woukd that mean that the company of my sister in beijing should have the contract be authenticated at the Philippine embassy in beijing before sending to my sister ? please help me. my sister's company have already sent contract with the company stamp and representative signature twice and still didn't honor by the POEA.

Dear Madam, I am writing this letter for inquiry, i'm working here in italy. Now, I am applying for working visa as live in caregiver in Canada and my application is already processed at the Canadian embassy here at italy. My question is this, if ever I am given a working visa for Canada and my start of work would be by september, but I would like to take a vacation first to the Philippines when my visa is release before i go and start my work to canada. Since i got my visa here to canada, i would like to come back here then from here to canada. Would i have a problem in the immigration at the philippines and the immigration here in italy? Because i have a working visa in canada? Thank you.

Since you are going to Italy, use your Italian visa when you leave the Philippines. If they saw your Canadian Visa and asked you about it, tell them the truth. You have nothing to worry about since you're not doing something wrong or illegal. You are just an OFW who visited the Philippines again and working in Italy has brought you more opportunities. Relax and always smile and cheerful when you talk to the immigration officers. God bless you!

Hello,

I hope you could give me a piece of advice because I am about to give up my job in China. My problem is the same as Ryan's. I am directly hired by an academy in China. However, POEA didn't accept my contract because it's unauthenticated. The school where I will work tried to bring it to the Phi. Embassy in Shanghai. However, it needs to be notarized. To cut the long story short, they cant have it authenticated. Is there really no POLO in China? Thank you very much in advanced.
