Make Money Online Typing

Updated on November 30, 2015

Make Money Online Doing Data Entry Jobs

I guess many people would agree with me that today making money online has become hundred times easier than it was several years ago. Whoever thought that one day one could just sit in the comfort of his or her home and make money without having to leave the house! It’s incredible! With every day that passes by, it seems making money online becomes easier and easier.

Today there are more than a thousand ways to make legal money online. Some of these methods of making money online from home can be honestly quite difficult, whereas others can be exceptionally simple.

In this article I am going to talk about one of the simplest ways to make money from the internet from the comfort of your home. In this article I shall be talking about how anybody with a computer connected to the internet and some basic typing skills can make money by working as an online typist or by performing data entry jobs for companies. Yes you heard me right! You can actually make money online by doing something you already know how to do very well – typing!

Beware of scam make money online sites!

But before I carry on, I’d like to take this opportunity to warn my readers out there about the fact that there are many scam sites today that claim to pay people money for typing. Many of these scam sites just end up wasting your time. By wasting your time, I mean these sites make you do a lot of work, and after spending a lot of time working for them, they end up not paying you. Some of these scam sites sometimes also go beyond just wasting your time. And that is where it gets scary. Some scam make money online sites are known for asking their unsuspecting victims to pay certain amounts of money before giving them access to typing jobs that have mouthwatering payment rates. These scam sites lure people into parting with their money by promising to pay them huge amounts of money for every typing or data entry job they complete. The mouthwatering payment rates are usually too tempting to resist for some people who end up paying these scammers in order to have access to these fake jobs. But after collecting your money, you never hear back from them. They basically dupe you. It is imperative that you are aware of some of these scam data entry sites. According to the experts, when something is too good to be true, then you have to be very careful when dealing with it.

These scam sites or companies would normally ask that you pay for things such as kits or software which you will use to do your job. My advice to you is to stay away from such data entry companies. Also, you should be very cautious of sites or data entry companies that claim to offer huge amounts of money that are too good to be true. For example, if you come across a site that says you can make thousands of dollars every month from doing online data entry, then you should know that they are not a legitimate site. You and I both know that this is too good to be true. While you can earn decent monthly income with data entry, you can never earn such a huge amount doing data entry. No data entry company will pay you thousands of dollars on a monthly basis for typing.

If an online money making site promises you huge amounts of money that seems too good to be true, then you have to be very careful because it might just end being a big lie.

How does a legitimate data entry company work?

A legitimate data entry company will never ask anyone who wants to do data entry for them to pay any money before joining the site. Such sites are free to join. And many of these legitimate data entry companies will first screen and test an applicant before giving him or her the data entry job. The screening is just in order for them to be sure that you are capable of doing the work.

Over the years, I have worked as a data entry clerk with a handful of legitimate data entry companies where I never had to make any payments before joining the sites and start earning money. My advice to anyone reading this article is to never make any payment to any data entry company that asks you to make payments before they give you any work. Such sites are normally just there to dupe people. As a matter of fact, no legitimate company or site will ask you to give them money before they give you a job. It simply doesn’t work that way. So please keep your eyes opened.

The nature of online typing or data entry jobs

When it comes to making money online typing, the job that the typist typically does is to type the text he or she sees on a scanned document. Here, what the typist basically does is data entry. He or she can therefore be called a data entry clerk.

There are quite a handful of companies that actively hire data entry clerk from all over the world. Toward the end of this article, I will provide readers with some of these legitimate data entry companies that pay you to work for them.

What are the requirements to work as a data entry clerk or personnel?

More often than not, the requirements needed to do data entry jobs online aren’t difficult or very rigid. For many of these data entry companies, the only requirement that they would want from the person applying for the job is the ability to type accurately and very fast. Majority of the time, the data entry personnel or typist should be capable of typing between 30 - 60 words per minute. There are other data entry companies that would require that the typist has at least a High School Diploma in order to qualify for the job. This, however, is not very common. So far as you can type very fast and accurately you can perform the job.

Lest I forget, there is also another requirement that every data entry company will need from an applicant. This is requirement is that the applicant have access to a computer and an internet connection. This is a requirement that I guess today almost everybody has.

Once you have all the requirements above, then you are ready to start working as a data entry personnel and start making money from the comfort of your home.

The interesting thing about this type of method of making money is that the amount of money that you make a day depends on the amount of effort that you put into the work. Here, the faster you type and the more hard work you put in, the more money you are going to earn. And also you have the great opportunity of deciding when you want to work and for how long you want to work.

Who is this type of job ideal for?

Honestly I think this type of job is ideal for everyone who is good at typing - from stay-at-home mothers to students.

How much do online data entry companies typically pay workers?

The pay largely depends on the company – basically it varies from company to company. But typically these companies pay somewhere between $0.45 and $0.60 for every 1000 words that a typist types from a scanned document. However, depending on the complexity of the work, payment rates can go even higher than the amounts mentioned above. I have seen cases where payment rates can even shoot to about $1.00 per 1000 words typed. But you should expect to receive something in the neighborhood of $0.50 for every 1000 words that you type. Personally I think this amount is pretty decent.

If you put in a decent amount of hard work into it, you can make between $200.00 and $300.00 at the end of every month doing online data entry.

How do these online data entry companies pay members?

There are a variety of ways that one can receive his or her money from a data entry company. Most online data entry companies use a variety of payment methods to pay their workers/members. So you can therefore expect to get paid with payment methods such as the following: Paypal, Western Union, Checks, Payza, etc.

Of all the payment methods above, it is Paypal that is the most common. Almost everybody is using Paypal these days to make payment simply because of how fast and convenient it is. So my advice to anyone who has the intention of trying to work online and make money via the internet is to open a Paypal account. Signing up for a Paypal account is totally free.

Before I sign off, I would like to stress on a very important thing I mentioned earlier. You should never pay any online data entry company money before joining the company in order to get work. The moment any site asks that you pay some money before becoming a member, I suggest you run away from them because they just might not be a legitimate site!

Popular legitimate and paying data entry companies

I cannot sign off without introducing you to some of the legitimate data entry companies that have over the years received quite some positive reviews from people.

As of the time of the writing of this article, all the companies or sites listed below are legitimate and paying data entry companies:

  • AccuTran Global (Hires workers from the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada)
  • Axion Data Services
  • Clark Fork Communications
  • DionData Solutions

The above are not the only legitimate online data entry companies out there. There are several other legitimate ones. You can find several other data entry companies by performing a simple search on Google. But you should be very careful when dealing with some of these companies because there are a lot of dishonest ones out there.
