The ability to accept credit cards on your mobile device is no longer just for person to person payments or mobile businesses. When it comes to credit card processing all too often brick and mortar business owners think that they have to either spend thousands of dollars on a point of sale (POS) system or be stuck with clumsy cash registers that do not allow for detailed reporting and inventory then, of course, have to have a separate credit card terminal to accept credit cards. In an effort to create the most versatile credit card processing solution available - the PhoneSwipe app is so robust that it effectively works as a POS system for brick and mortar businesses.

With a list of features ranging from capturing customer contact information for marketing, in depth reporting tools, and an amazing referral program, the Phone Swipe credit card processing solution can be an amazing tool to increase sales and save you time. Not only does the app’s robust reporting allow you to analyze best sellers in your inventory, apply discounts at time of sale, and categorize a your inventory for easy browsing but now the PhoneSwipe can integrate with a cash drawer and printer, which makes accepting credit cards a breeze. This makes the app a virtual POS system and is an important step toward making professional processing solutions that make business more efficient and profitable available to everyday business owners at no cost.

Having a way to accept credit cards that can aid in your marketing, increase your efficiency, and help with inventory management all for free is a business owner’s dream! So how does it work?

Printer Compatibility

First off when it comes to printers the Phone Swipe credit card processing solution is currently compatible with AirPrint enabled or Star Thermal printers. This is a great addition to the PhoneSwipe app even if you do not want to print customer receipts you can now run reports and have a great easy to read printed version to show off how good business is!

To use AirPrint with your iPad (all models), iPhone (3GS or later), or iPod Touch (3rd Generation or later) you will need the latest version of iOS and a printer that supports AirPrint. For a complete and current list of AirPrint supported printers and more details visit the Apple Support page Here.

If you prefer an Android device you will need a Star thermal printer like the Star TSP100 LAN series (ie. a Star TSP143). These printers can be purchased at a number of different places such as Amazon.com, CDW, or PCMall.

Cash Drawer Compatiblity

Since the Phone Swipe allows for “Cash” transactions, which is great for reporting and inventory control, being able to connect to a cash drawer only makes sense right? To connect your PhoneSwipe account to a cash drawer to collect cash payments, make change, and streamline your bookkeeping is simple. The only thing to know here is that your cash drawer will need to be able to interface with a Star enabled printer. Generally the cash drawer will need to have a MultiPRO Interface 320 (24v). You can purchase a cash drawer enabled with this feature Here or at Amazon.

These new features in the Phone Swipe app have made leaps and bounds into the future of how we accept credit cards. With NFC credit card payments and cloud based computing taking ever larger steps of progress apps like the Phone Swipe give the business owner great flexibility to adapt to industry changes without have to purchase expensive equipment because their solution is easily updated for the latest needs or security measures. Remember with the new Visa NFC adoption timeline a vast majority of the credit card terminals in the marketplace will be obsolete in the year 2015!

Hi TJDavis - Absolutely the most common problem when the card reader does not swipe properly is that the Media Volume is not turned up. So when you plug in the card reader make sure to turn up the Media Volume all the way. If it is not fully turned up the cards may not read properly. If you still have a problem after that and the card reader is faulty we will happily replace it for you. Hope that is helpful and thank you for the question!

Great Merchantdoctor..I have been using another device. which I just found out today is not PCI compliant. I have decided to switch to you so good to know my phone will work and I know I had no trouble with the other device working on my tablet. Looking forward to using the new PhoneSwipe device. :-)

Hi Teresa-

My apologies that this list is not dynamically updated as new phones seem to be coming out daily. If you HTC Vivid is operating on the Android OS 2.1 or later, you should be fine. As for your Toshiba Thrive tablet, this device has not yet been tested...yet it will likely work just fine. Retail locations wishing to take full advantage of printing and cash drawer integration the I Pad is currently still the best choice, however, the Android based tablet apps are being modified daily.

Does this work on all android devices? I have both an HTC Vivid phone and Toshiba Thrive tablet. Would I need a device for each or would one work on both?
