Sample After-Interview Thank You Letter

In this economy, it's not unusual for many folks to be hitting the grindstone in search of a new job. So many people are either unemployed or underemployed and desperate for a new employment opportunity. And while you may have managed to land that interview you've been wanting for months (if not years), let's face it, you weren't the only one that interviewed for that one position.

To get noticed, you're going to have to stand out and do something that the other guys failed to do. One of the easiest things for you to do after the interview is to send a quick thank you letter to the human resource head that interviewed you. At the very least this will put your name back into their head a few days after the interview. There's no way you are getting that job if he or she forgot all about you as soon as you walked out of the office.

The good news is that it doesn't take a lot of effort to type up a short letter. It doesn't need to be long: a few precise sentences should do the trick. Below, I've provided a sample letter that you are more than welcome to copy and paste into your word processor. Be sure to do spell check before you print and ship your letter--misspelled words don't help your professional image at all.

And if you didn't land that job you wanted, keep trying. Here's a sample job application letter that you may find handy in lining up your next interview.
