Why you need Social Media Marketing (SMM)

I can go on and on about Social Media Marketing (SMM), and all the reasons you should apply it to your business marketing. I can tell you that if you know how to effectively manage your marketing online, you will increase your brand awareness and ROI. I can tell you that Social Media Marketing is the wave of the NOW, and your brand will suffer if you do not apply it to your Marketing Protocols. I can tell you a lot of things, and you will then move on with your life and your business brand, unchanged-because what I say means nothing, unless I can show you the truth behind these benefits, and how to effectively apply and manage Social Media Marketing to your business. This is exactly what I want to do, provide you the proof that SMM works and it is not just the newest fad, but an innovative movement for online advertising and brand expose.

When I say, Social Media; most will probably think about Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Flicker, and then a picture of a teenager chatting aimlessly with friends and posting the complaints regarding their lives for the public to see. For a teen, or preteen, this may be true, but for businesses and entrepreneurs, Social Media is the cost effective way to gain new customers, keep customers and stay in touch with the community.

Social Media is how many gain feedback on changes they have applied to business, as well as share the relatable part of who they are as a business. The relatable part of business is the human side of the numbers, and statistics regarding businesses and brands. How do I know, and how will I prove that the benefits do exist within Social Media? Simply put, I am going to show you the facts-the numbers- the overwhelming proof that Social Media Marketing is amongst the top ways to market your service; going beyond the effectiveness of Print Ads, Mail outs, or simply putting up a website and crossing your fingers that someone will find you at some point in time.

Did you know that 71% of businesses now have a business page on Facebook? To gain optimal exposure to your online content you need to learn how to make Social Media work alongside your SEO campaign, and connect you to the public and more importantly, connect you to your future clients and customers. How do you do this? It isn’t hard, but it does take time to do this the correct way to truly connect you with others. First of all, create a business page that people can follow and like, and then keep up with posts and create conversations that draw others in, not put them to sleep. As a business, no one will care when you take a potty break or eat a Danish- but they may care about up and coming events and changes to your service. People care about seeing others in a real light, so sharing photographs of team members, a new office, community involvement or new product with a message are all effective and positive ways to apply Social Media to your Marketing Campaign.

Helpful Social Media Tips

Research shows that content posted on Wednesday, will receive more responses than any other day of the week. So if you are pressed for time and feel unable to keep up with you Social Media post schedule, make sure that Wednesday is your day to make the time.

A Wow Statistic to Consider

Did you know that 80% of your content awareness will be generated off site? Draw people back to the content that you have created from offsite sources. This is where Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Flickr and Stumble Upon all take flight! Although you truly do need content that states who you are and what you do, your offsite involvement , will act as an asset to your onsite content and overall brand awareness and a doorway into your site for this content to be viewed.

Researchers have stated that Marketing Budgets will show dramatic increases towards Social Media and other Digital Content such as Emails and Online Ads. Why is this change important to your business or brand? It is important because this is something that your competition is going to be doing or is doing, and if you fall behind in these Multi Media Marketing Changes, your brand will too.

Managing and Sharing on Social Media Platforms

So you have your Facebook and you have your Twitter, what do you do with it after your profile is completed? Share!

You share and re-share and like and comment to keep the views up and followers informed. Hub Pages has made it extremely easy to share your content on a great number of Social Media Platforms, why not take advantage of it? When you publish a hub you have created, why would you not want to share your creation? You should!

STEP BY STEP from Publish to Forever

Once you publish- Share your new content on Facebook- on Twitter- on Stumble Upon- On Digg or whatever other place you want to share your content on. Don’t forget to press that Google + promotion tool either.

When you are on Facebook, like your post and respond to the comments that responded to the post (and like those comments too).

If you have a blog, like the blogs you publish.

You want people to Like and Share your posts and content on their Facebook and Twitter. And you want it to be shared over and over again. Every like, and every share, and every comment that is posted to your online content, helps YOU.

After a blog has been stagnant for a while, go back and revive your influence and re-tweet and re-share, doing so, will gain new exposure to what has already been created. Kind of like; when they bring an old movie back to the big screen-all of a sudden, everyone remembers why they loved that movie so much and go and see it once again-you want to do this with your hubs; and have people revisit you.

Read others posts and interact with others. Who wants to read what you write, over and over again if you do not give them the time of day and read and comment on what they are posting and commenting on? Not many people will still hang out if you don't respond when they leave some insight to your work. You will see a dramatic increase in views and significance if you are social with others.

The Digital Age Is Upon Us

There is no fighting the fact that online involvement is becoming the most effective way to market your brand. Do not let a lack of involvement keep you hidden under a rock. To Be Known- To Be Read- To Be A Benefit to Oneself- you must learn to BE SOCIAL.

Social Media Marketing, your tool to a successful brand and online image.

The Digital Age Is Upon Us

There is no fighting the fact that online involvement is becoming the most effective way to market your brand. Do not let a lack of involvement be anything but a positive for you and your content. To Be Known- To Be Read- To Be A Benefit to Oneself- you must learn to BE SOCIAL.

Simply being social online in Facebook Groups, in forums as well as responding to and commenting back on posts will earn you consistent views, followers, friends and hopefully business. Just don't drowned your audience with an overload of sales or business related posts. Although you may like to see a wall full of adds, your customers do not. Your customers and potential customers want you and your business to be relatable.

If they can relate, they will be more incline to LIKE and follow. Now go on, get out of here- Go be social! But remember, behave yourself, and play nice!

Hello HC,

Another very informative hub, I will try the wednesday idea.

I use the social media links provided by hubpages, it's easy, so why not?

I have been pleasantly surprised by the number of likes I get from Facebook, as you say Facebook is not just full of adolescence. It's a great resource and you are right we should be using it.

Voted up and useful.

tonyfischer -

You're right, I very much want to help newbies do well and learn how to generate their own traffic, rather than depend on hub pages to guide traffic towards their hubs. I figure- I already have a 100 writing score (well, today I do), and get my fair share of consistent traffic to my articles- so what is the point now if I can not share some knowledge to help the greater masses do the same.

Thank you for your comment and for reading- I always appreciate the feedback !

homesteadbound - Thank you for the feedback- I hope that it helps. I always tell people, as much as you want to drive traffic up, do it the correct way with the correct base, so when the traffic goes up, it has more chance of holding on to some of those numbers. The correct base before sharing or anything else is content, first and foremost. Good luck and if you should ever need any advice from an SMM/SEO standpoint-let me know and I will help the best I can.

I see you have now escalated to the level of marketing like myself.. I also see the importance of social media as well as SEO. I had to set up Facebook pages, Youtube channels etc.. You should consider learning Adwords, I have one Google certification exam left to take to be a Google Adwords partner now..many hosting providers give you free coupons to test campaigns :)

Rated up!

Hey Richieb799- lol, yep... this is now my job... I do online marketing and SEO for corporations. It is hard to make the unknowing, understand the benefit and need of both SEO and Social Media...many refuse and believe that their marketing is just fine the way that it is, with print ads and sales calls only....If they only knew-thanks Richie for commenting :)

H.C. Porter,

I think the term "social" media hurts Google advertising and the professionals in the field. For business, it is a business expense called advertising.

I am curious how you made the transition into SEO work and what you think of the Adwords Certification program.

I just asked in the forum why there wasn't a special section just for business marketing and advertising.

Google offers so much more than the other advertising medium - just the ROI and the targeted market is justification alone yet the term "marketing" and "social media" I believe scares off the business owners.

Your thoughts?

American Choice- I am in the middle of actually completing my Google Certification. I think that reviewing the material is good for anyone, but it is kind of like a degree...just because you have it, doesn't mean that you know it well enough to implement it into your advertising or life.. I started off doing SEO and Social Media was where I eventually ended up. I dont think that Social Media hurts Google Advertising (we now have Google +)... When you are blogging or posting or sharing you want to be as relevant to your audience as possible... this is done with SEO and keywords...the Social Media Aspect to all of this is creating relevant back-links and working on the link juice you are creating by networking and sharing. Now a days, the only way to have a viral campaign is to take full advantage of all your sources... if you are not doing this...you are at a major disadvantage.

I am not sure if i answered what it is you are asking, but maybe that gives you a little bit more insight as to how I was thinking when I wrote this?

loued51, yes, many find it a benefit for a good kick-start to gain traffic by submitting their content to the search engines.
