3 Taboo Search Engine Optimization Techniques That Could Get A Website De-Listed

Many articles talk about search engine optimization best practices but there is a flip side which could result in delisting from search engines.

This form of search engine optimization is known as black hat and is associated with the manipulation of search engines negatively to gain an unfair advantage over those websites that play by the rules.

To avoid having a website de-listed, the following are three taboo search engine optimization techniques worth avoiding.

1. Over-stuffing keywords

Search engine optimized articles use a variety of methods which help them rank well in search engine results. The white hat way of ranking an article is through a proper balance of content and keywords.

On the flip side, an article that is stuffed with keywords across the board, repeated through article after article will raise a red flag with search engines and mark the website as one that is trying to manipulate search results - this results in a rapid delisting of content.

You do not want to be considered a spammer by both the search engines, and the people that come across your content. Over stuffing key words is never a good thing.

2. Buying sketchy links

Buying links have been a part of the web for many years; although many debates wither or not it can negatively affect a website, search engines draws a line between ethical bought links and those which cause damage to search engine users.

The taboo search engine optimization method of buying sketchy links will certainly de-list a website. The links that cause harm and de-listing come from websites with malware, viruses and cause general harm to computers. Because search engines want to protect its users these website will be de-listed from results to ensure no one finds them.

3. Spam backlinking

A recent and brutal trend on the web is the use of bots and tactics which spam baclinks on blogs, websites, forums and social networks.

Because many of these other websites allow users to provide a backlink, many black hat SEO's will abuse this privilege by spamming thousands of backlinks.

When search engines catch on to this taboo form of search engine optimization it takes action by de-listing the website due to its attempt to manipulate search engine results.

The search engines are becoming more intelligent by the day.

It's equally important to understand the taboo methods of search engine optimization as it is with proper forms. By understanding these three SEO methods, one could avoid the possibility of being de-listed through careless link building, spamming and over-stuffing keywords - in the end: don't make these mistakes.

Work on quality content and links. Remember, you can never go wrong when you work on your pages properly with a little hard work and determination.

Sure, it may take time for you do everything right, but it will pay off in the end. You do not want to be someone that gets high rank at first, and then loses it. Remember if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

Always remember, spamming your content with key words, linking to sites that have a bad reputation, or spamming links is bad. You should always use the white-hat methods when you are building your page rank with the search engines.

Search engines are not stupid, they have programs installed that recognize content that is trying to push its way up using bad methods. If you use white-hat method’s when you are trying to keep or build your page rank, you cannot go wrong.

Do not lower your page rank in the search engines. Sometimes, these methods can be tempting, but never correct.

Good luck on building, and keeping your page rank.

I agree with the first two, but honestly, even SEOMozz agrees that mass blog commenting works. They and we may wish it didn't, but the search engines aren't great at detecting it. For that reason, I believe spam comments are here to stay, at least for now.

Thank you for stopping in Deb. People use SEO in many different ways. If commenting on everything helps drive traffic, then by all means do it. I guess some of that also depends on the type of web-site too.

Thank you for your advice.

Mass commenting of blogs and websites works as long as each blog or comment is original. Don't re-use by cutting and pasting the same thing over and over. That is viewed as a negative with search engines. Try to stay with what you know. By the way thank you, was considering the purchase of "guarantee backlinks companies" but how can they really represent your product or service with quality backlinks?

It is better to gain back-links naturally, or imputing them yourself. You are right about comments being original. Never underestimate that.

Thank you for the comment.

Yes, it is nice to keep control of your own business. Currently I have list of blogs and places that you can post comments plus your keywords. Think my list is now over 10,000 links. It is work but, I promote many websites when I visit. The worst thing is like you said the spam bots, just paragraphs of keywords and no content. Google is not stupid, they know what is going on, don't recommend doing it. This hub is really great. Thank You again.

I don't think we can get affected via the 3rd reason. If not we can post our competitors on spam websites and get them delisted.
