For the young person who isn't going to college or doesn't know what he or she wants to do for a life's work, I would recommend joining the U.S. Navy. Although I was only in the Navy for a little under four years during the Vietnam War, the training and experience there changed my life. I received training and learned a job which I was able to use after transitioning to civilian life.

Thanks, Paul. That all sounds like a good reason to serve in the military.

I am really fascinated with the USAF list of benefits. I am also surprised to see two universities in the list. Who would have thought that working at a school could be so great. I also had no idea that New York University was the largest private university in the US.

I have not had much experience with most of the companies, but we have been military all our lives, I had my first child on an AF base and it was a great experience. I have been stationed on every kind of military installation. The best installations by far are the AFB. The worse my far are the Army. I can see how the AF can be a good employer.

Hearing from military personnel that they like being in the US military branches is encouraging. I've know several career USAF people that are happy with their choice. There look to be many benefits.
