Unusual Jobs You Have Never Heard Of

Updated on August 22, 2012

Have you ever just wanted to chuck it all and try something new? I have heard so many people talk about how miserable they are in their current jobs, but only you can make you happy right? I love to hear about the different kinds of jobs out there, but even I was stumped on these, you see what you think. Maybe you will find a new career choice!

An ice cream taster- now who would not love this job? It has been a lifelong dream of mine to do nothing but sit around and eat ice cream all day, I just wonder if the job comes with a gym membership?

A banana gasser- this one just made me smile saying it (yes I am still that juvenile) but what the heck is it? Well this job involves “gassing” new shipments of bananas to get them to ripen so they can be sold. It loses some of that “wow” factor once you know what it is.

A wrinkle chaser- finally someone to come iron for me! Okay so maybe not, a wrinkle chaser is actually a person who gets paid big money to make sure your shoes are wrinkle free. I know I never heard of this either and I did not realize wrinkle free shoes were such a problem.

A laughter therapist- I can get paid to make people laugh? What the hell, I can do that job, where do I sign up? Oh wait, I do not have an M.D. after my name, so that is not going to happen. Don’t think it is a real job? Google it!

A hair boiler- I know sounds totally gross and actually it is pretty weird. A hair boiler is someone who boils animal hair for use at a later time. What you use it for, I do not want to know!

A citrus fruit dryer- seriously, it is a farmer who actually dyes their fruit to make it appear more attractive. Well I guess if the fruit is doing something to look more attractive than I am never getting a date!

And, drum roll please, the one I love the best, a cheese sprayer. Yes that’s right the cheese gets its own spray…wonder if it is like a shower or something? A cheese sprayer is how the cheese gets into popcorn and a limited variety of other products, it’s sprayed. Totally cool, I wonder if there is an optional career path for those who want to be an ice cream taster and a cheese sprayer?

So don’t frown, your job can’t be all that bad, and who knows may be you will get some ideas after reading this and decide to chuck it all to become the world’s best wrinkle chaser or banana gasser!
