Hi Game Fan,

I got something for that warm beer problem of yours. It's something you and the gang will like better than lukewarm could-have-beens--the lost thirst quenchers of the big game.

It's a mini refrigerator, the Danby DAR195Bl. (see photo) Its small, space saving capacity of 1 cb. ft. 8 oz. allows for 2 cases of 12 oz. cans and a little more. Keep fresh food and cold beverages ready wherever you need them most. And it is affordable.

Here are some observations posted at the customer reviews page by happy, and not so happy, customers on the Danby DAR195BL 1.8 cu. ft. All Refrigerator.

  • “This compact fridge is very nice. I wanted to mostly use it for drinks”
  • “Salad dressings and cheeses/luncheon meats...a loaf of bread... went in with room to spare.”

  • “The slots for soda/beer cans... everything slid in perfectly.”

  • “It fits a 2-liter bottle of soda in the door or a quart of milk and a quart of orange juice”

  • “Nice 11" depth on the top 2 shelves but items can overhang by another 2"”

  • “Ideal for leftovers or take out”

  • “When you get the temperature dial just right ...you get a heavenly cold drink on a hot day.”

Mary M calls her review “Danby Refrigerator-Highly Recommended.” She discusses durability, capacity, and cooling ability. She rates it 5 stars. Here are some excerpts in her own words:

Durability-Capacity-Cooling Ability

  • “This little refrigerator has been running faithfully for 2+ years”

  • “I am pleased with how well it maintains its temperature.”

  • “This refrigerator can really get cold: My room is 80 degrees now and I have the temperature dial set to the halfway point just to keep items in the door from freezing solid.”

  • “Overall, this refrigerator can hold a lot. The can rack can be used for condiments, yogurt, etc.”

But not everybody was thrilled with the Danby DAR195BL 1.8 cu.ft. All Refrigerator. Some thought it noisy. Even some of those who rated it 5 stars. Here are some example comments to that effect:

Noise

  • “Some reviewers were complaining about a noise. Well unfortunately, I think I got one of those.... The noise happens when it cycles on and off to cool. I was ok the first night, but by the second day it began to also whistle”

  • “It sounds like a mini airplane running it's engine all night long in my bedroom....”

Customer Care Quality

Can Danby customer service do anything about this problem? Several reviewers said something like this:

  • "I initiated a return and received a replacement within 3 days. The new unit did not make this noise on day one(it was quiet) and still doesn't almost 2 years later."

  • “To those that have read that the Danby makes noise ...If it's noisy it's defective. Let them pick it up and send you another one.”

Summary

Want to end the maddening problem of "More Beer Than Fridge" when the game is under way? Some struggle emotionally with this particular buying decision because those tiny boxes are usually pricey.
