What is a business plan?

A business plan is an electronic or written document that entails your business proposal and provides detailed inputs like how you would manage the firm and future financial projections. It contains key elements like business goals, marketing and logistics management, location, and in general how the business works.

Why you need a business plan?

1. It helps you raise monetary capital.

Investors are always wise and critical, they won't hand over your needed investments until they know how you and your business works. Having a detailed and effective business plan would make them feel you are competent enough to work with their money. Likewise, some banks and funding institutions require a business plan before they lend you what you need.

2. It provides an overview of the business.

Since it is you that would make the business run, it is you that should be first convinced to the soundness of your proposal. Reading and repeatedly analyzing your business plan will help you weigh your decisions and decide whether you should stop or go.

3. It allows tracking and makes room for improvement.

It goes that planning is the most critical step in any endeavor. Same goes with a business venture. Having a business plan will help you cope in business recession and emergencies by helping you point out what went wrong in the plan.

4. It outlines the Business Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT).

SWOT analysis is probably one of the most critical information your business plan should contain. Basically, it contains your business edges and flaws, as well as the opportunities you are planning to exploit. Your business plan is the lifeline information of your business, the key to business success.

Definitely the whole building of your business stands upon the base of your Business Idea and Plan. I saw many businesses which have very hot scope in the market but they failed because they had not some proper business plan. But to add something that just plan is not enough as implementation is must as well.
