I'm in CA. I was offered a retirement package at the end of January due to department reorganization. I accepted the retirement package, signed an agreement not to defame or sue the company and confirmed with the Sr VP of HR that the 'defaming' agreement went both ways. Now I discovered during an interview that my former boss verbally told one company that I was 'fired and would never be considered for re-hire'. My former boss did not mind if they hired me but told the prospective employer that she didn't want them them to allow me to have any contact with any former employer's customers.
