These are often word of mouth jobs. Not long ago, some people came to the door with what we thought to be a sales pitch that we were getting ready to, "thanks but no thanks."
Long story short, my husband got to talking at great length to the company owner who OFFERED HIM A JOB that he'll start Monday. So, I think its necessary in this economy not to cut a person off 'at the knees' You really have nothing to lose and potentially a lot to gain.
Also, thinking outside the box helps. Thinking, I can offer this service, who can USE this service? Learning to promote and advocate for YOURSELF; but none of the self-aggrandizement that seems to come with a big ego.
